   I was admitted to Staveley Ward on 19th June, 2022, following problems with bleeding from my ileostomy site. From the very beginning I was made to feel comfortable, my dignity was respected, as was my right to self-medicate. The latter meant that I could take my meds exactly as I do at home, and following the same régime. The nurses were pleasant and took the time to listen to any problems. A special mention goes to Francesca who has cared for me on previous occasions. Her kindness and efficiency are outstanding.This does not detract from the others, however; in particular their respect for my request only to have two blood sugar tests per day. I realise that nurses are instructed to carry this out four times - a little excessive for someone who does not require insulin. In this case however, the rules are to blame - and not the staff. Only by mentioning these things will changes happen. All in all, my experience in Staveley Ward was excellent, and my thanks go out to all concerned. Sincerely, Tony I. Eyre..
