   Radio Frequency Denervation . Ablation Treatment to Both Knees Mid June 2024 I had total knee replacements to both knees 2007. For the last six or so years I have had pain from both knees more or less constantly, even disturbing my sleep every night. Investigations came up with various causes, some intervention treatments both medical and physio style. I lived on pain killers day to day. Long term use of codeine and ibruprofen affects me badly, and I don't like long term opiate medication. Since having the ablation treatment I have been much improved and can now sleep nights without the knees continually waking me. I have occasional short periods, usually after activity of country walking or riding my bike, when I still notice some pain. However, I rarely take any form of pain killers now, just intermittently. So. I have been able to carry out my usual recreational activities as well as getting better sleep and recuperation. Four months now and obviously the acid test is how long this will last. I have read that sometimes it lasts up to 3 years.  I hope the relief will  last this long, but anyway for several months it has been worth it. The treatment can be repeated and I do feel I would be happy to do this again, especially as the treatment itself is very quick with little pain, and you're quickly up and walking again in minutes. You just can't drive for 24 hours. All the skilled medical team are very kind and supportive throughout, and keep in touch for support afterwards, I would recommend this treatment as a valid pain control intervention.    It would be difficult to improve on this experience. The staff were helpful, friendly but always professional. Each step was fully explained beforehand with pre and post procedural care being very thorough. I attended the Harworth centre which had the added bonus of a large free car park.

   I have been receiving spinal pain relief injections for 18 years at Bassetlaw Hospital These gave relief for at the most 8 weeks. Due to the NHS backlog I was sent to OPM 3 years ago. I had a couple of injections then was offered Bilateral RF ablation which changed my life. After being in severe pain for so many years it was life changing to be pain free. I cannot recommend OPM highly enough for their care. My only regret now is that they have not been asked to continue this service on the NHS which leaves me back in the never ending queue at the hospital for an injection which does not work. Hopefully NHS will use OPM soon so I can once again receive their excellent care
