Avoid this place if you are looking for a professional hairdresser. I first attempted to use this place almost 9 years ago, when I walked in to get my freshly done weave, side fringe trimmed. They were very blunt in saying they do not deal with weaves, so I immediately left. The second attempt was 2 years later I rang to book an appointment for a treatment, but they said they did not have any availability for just over a week. However, I was prepared to wait so I booked it in, only to get a call the day before the appointment to say they needed to cancel it for whatever reason and reschedule. I decided to leave it and go elsewhere. The third attempt was today which was (6 years later) when I walked into enquire about how much it would cost to get a permanent black colour done. Which I have been getting for last year along with regular treatments. However, my regular hairdresser has recently moved out of the area. Anyway, back to XL Hair, I explained what I wanted, and he said please take a seat in the chair. As I sat down, I looked around the shop as I had never been past the front desk before, and I thought I had been transported to the early 2000’s everything looked very old and tired. Anyway, he then proceeds to tell me he is going to do a consultation with me and tells me I should get a rinse and treatments. I said I don’t want a rinse I would like a permanent hair colour. He then says, “we can’t do that”. So, I asked well why make me take a seat in the chair, he then goes on to say an again it is a consultation and that it is to see if we work well together. I could not believe what I was hearing, so I said my goodbyes and left. Now yes, I was dressed completely low key in my rain mac and trainers as I had just come from the gym, so my natural hair was looking a bit untidy. But to say we would not work well together is absurd. It is fair to say I will not ever return back to this run down, unprofessional establishment. I really should have listened to the other previous reviews. I also think he has done me a favour because it sounds like he does not even have the ability to carry permanent hair colour which is why he tried to palm me off with a rinse.

So the first time i went there they tried to charge me extra because they thought that the dye they were using isnt enough so they tried to get me to pay extra for more dye, i refused since i didn't have the money, and they said they would make do with what they had. This time i went in 2 days early to get a quote, they said £85 for steam treatment and a trim. 2 days later i book an appointment, and 30 minutes after the man phones me back again to tell me they cant get ahold of supplies and the price is changed to £102. they can't get ahold of water for a steam machine or scissors for a trim. I said that was too much and then he immediately changed the price back down to £85. I didn't even ask for a steam treatment i wanted my roots bleached, but when you walk in there he starts saying "first i wanna steam treat then blowdry" instead of doing what you want, so he can add to your price. This place is ran by a scam artist.

My first experience recently was very good indeed. The service is very professional and I left looking and feeling fantastic. An overall Good Hair Day!
