Been to the punchbowl inn in Thorne for lunch, 5 people with 3 celebrating birthdays, absolutely gutted, boy behind bar didn't have a clue, food wasn't good, no roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding or parsnips, (can let them off for that) drinks sparce, no ice, no coffee, not even toilet paper in ladies loo! No wonder just us 5 in!!!!! lovely big building could have great potential but we won't be going back!!!!! Very Very disappointing.

Its a nice little place. I needed to stay here for a purpose and it served that well. Would it be a place a stay for pleasure? It wasn't bad. The service was great.

Arrived on a Monday 1800hrs.Was informed there was no hot food being cooked on Monday nights, and directed to a "rival" hotel and restaurant a few minutes away where we had a great meal.Upon returning the main doors were locked at 2000hrs,and the bar shut.!Use the rear entrance door. Getting back to my room I found didn't have a kettle, had to find someone to get me one. When it did arrive it was very greasy and dirty. The hotel isn't very clean, dirt and dust all the way upstairs, drawers in the room not cleaned out as dust and crumbs in every drawer. The toilet seat broken and loose, and when in the morning I decided to have a shower,it was luke warm, not hot at all,it's not had much maintenance over the years and is dated and dirty. The bed was comfortable with clean crisp white sheets. The breakfast was disappointing and very long wait for it. they deep fry the mushrooms, sausages and fried bread in old oil, don't drain the food, and it's swimming in oil on the plate. My partner had poached eggs on toast, what ended up being, under poached eggs on bread with deep fried oily mushrooms. And breakfast is only served between 0730 and 0830 ,!! And a longish wait for the helper to come and ask what you want,as she's obviously busy doing other jobs somewhere.I wouldn't say this is value for money at all. Very disappointed, and wouldn't recommend it to any one.

Two out of the three rooms we booked weren't finished off properly on arrival, but, after saying that, the problems were quickly rectified. Food was good (real chips!) The breakfast was hearty (cereal, full English and fruit juice) which set us up for the day. The pub is ideally situated a short walk from the town and train station and close to the motorway. Just what we required from our stay. The staff were lovely (and didn't kick us out after checkout which was a huge plus) We would definitely stay again if we were back in the area.

Friendly pub with good facilities for functions and reasonable rooms. No vegan options on the set buffet.

Breakfast How sad and little management care. Almost feel I'm not welcome.a young man in his slippers trying to present a breakfast service.well done to him Whilst I understand a self service system.a large milk container.fruit in supermarkets boxes, boxes of cereal that looks ready to be thrown out!! No standards little reason to return .i haven't started on bedroom.dreadful With apologise and the chef sick, the manager upstairs not well. £87 for very poor accommodation.

Enthusiastic staff, but maybe a little more attention to detail might be appreciated. Meals feature generous portion sizes. Building has seen better days. Our room was strangely configured and could do with bringing up to date and more comfortable bed. I know prices are going up but it seemed a little expensive for what and where it was.
