The building has major drainage issues, which the staff/owners will not accept. The 19th floor corridors are so smelly at times. They refuse to accept it. I am even using a fan to stop the awful smell coming into her room. Donβt waste your money, once they have it they are not willing to help !

Staying here in my first year of university. Great location as it is very close to university, the highstreet and nightlife. I feel like it is a very safe place to live with security 24/7 and friendly reception staff who are always happy to help. The facilities are also very modern and clean making it feel more luxurious.

Its been around 3 months we started staying at The Gate and we're satisfied with every service provided by The Gate. We've compared with other student accommadation and Gate is way more better than others. I would recommend my friends and relatives who would be travelling to sheffield.

Location; perfect place to stay in terms of location. Sheffield Hallamβs city campus, Moor market, peace garden, winter garden, railway station and Fitzalan Square is within 10 minutesβ walk 10/10 Product; the building is newish and feels fresh, good facilities i.e., gym, lounge, little cafΓ©, on lower ground, laundry room, study room and best of all, lounge on the 19th floor with great views to enjoy your coffee 10/10 Good night sleep; I am a light sleeper and I was bothered by the noise generated by the huge machines they had in the courtyard, something to do with the heating system. I was staying in 709 (A) and I used earplugs to for months, not convenient 6/10 Staff; whole resident team, reception, housekeeping, maintenance, night team, is great. Really friendly and helpful 10/10 Cleanliness; always clean, 10/10 I stayed from Sep, 2021 to Sep, 2022

Lovely accommodation! They have nice facilities like the gym and study room as well as great events that run weekly. The staff are always friendly and happy to help. The rooms look exactly like the pictures online with big comfy 3/4 beds (I suggest getting a mattress topper to make them extra comfy).

I am writing this review after the completion of my entire tenancy (October 2020 -September 2021). I lived in a super ensuite room with the kitchen and living area shared with 6 other roommates. Let me start with the kitchen, 2 big refrigerators each with 3 shelves on top and 4 at the bottom for the frozen sections. 2 storage cupboards and a drawer for each one of us which was more than sufficient even for someone like me cooked each day and had load of spices and utensils. It also had a dining table suitable for 7, a comfy sofa and a flat screen television. The room was a standard one but with plenty of storage space, bed with headboard shelves and under bed storage, big book shelf and a standard size wardrobe and not to forget the full length mirrors. All the above described came in a superior quality and to my surprise exactly as seen in the images on their website. I say superior because it was only when I had to move out of this accommodation that i realized how lucky was to have booked this. Now, I know one wouldn't find everything in a place and even if one does it wouldnt be affordable but trust me when I say this you wouldn't find a place better than this one. There are places more expensive than this one with so many faults small room, cramped up kitchen, no storage, no ventilation, no gym, no lift, no communal space, I can go on and on from just my experience in the last few weeks and from my current place. Even barring its amenities its location is what makes it most attractive. Market, shopping centres, city centre just a hop skip and a jump away. It also had loads of common space all of them with big wide televisions, a beautiful roof top which captures almost the entire city and a gym. To top it, all they have the most delightful and accommodating staff. The only thing i could critique about is the access to the gym, it is only available on weekdays between 8 am and 8pm. Some of the reviews do not justify how good this place is and most of the negative ones are written in spite. Remember we were in a nation wide lock down and it wasnt just the need of the hour to restrict the use of public areas but also they were the guidelines laid down by the government. I had to move out as I am no longer a student but if I had to recommend any accommodation to prospective students it will be this one!

I have loved my stay at the gate! itβs just a shame itβs coming to an end. Staff are really friendly which gave the place a nice homely vibe and allowed me to settle in fast. Apartments are in clusters with en-suites and a shared kitchen; allowing you to socialise with your flat mates whilst having your own personal space. The apartments themselves are stunning and all new, and for the price, i would say itβs definitely good value for money. I had an apartment overlooking the internal courtyard, meaning it was quiet which helped a lot when it came to revising for exams. Not to mention itβs literally right next door to Sheffield Hallam! I personally think some of these recent reviews are a little unfair and I believe are from previous staff who have grievances with the managers. Iβd gladly recommend this to anyone who is moving away to uni for the first time.

Fresh, new, welcoming location with a fantastic staff. The location must be the envy of many, having key Sheffield locations such as the train station, the Moor, and the city centre being within no more than a three minute walk away. Only minor drawback is some of the rooms have odd layouts (can only speak for two shared kitchen rooms though). Attached is the view from my window
