Let me say first that I did not end up buying anything because they did not have the part I needed (Dual FlushToilet Syphon from Dudley). But I want to comment on the friendliness of the staff, especially a chap called Dave (told us he had worked in maintenance at Kingston College for 15 years) - he not only told us where to get it but spend time explaining how to best install it and what to look out for. Considering that he knew he was not going to make a sale I have to say outstanding! Should I need a part again in the future I will make this store my first stop.

I like selco i use them a lot, but this is one of the worst selco stores I've been too. I avoid this store as much as possible and would rather drive out of my way to go to another. They never seem to have the range or quantity needed for a big job, your forever finding damaged products that have had their boxes taped back together then, bringing items back because things are missing. The car park is a joke in the morning as half of it they store materials on. Leaving cars and vans parked all down the street. The biggest gripe of all is when they restock and shut down parts of the store for the fork lifts, they do this first thing in the morning when every builder/customer goes in there to shop. Leaving people standing around like idiots. Surely it makes more sense to re stock when it's quiet.

Great place for trade products, very helpful and knowledgeable staff, parking is very limited. Would recommend reserve and collect to save time there.

The paint mixing machines are faulty. I chose a color from the catalog and bought 5L. The next day, I bought another 5L of the same code, but it was much darker. I returned with both cans and showed the difference. They admitted the tones didn’t match, but said since it was custom mixed, they couldn’t take it back. I asked for a solution since it wasn’t my fault, but they said they had none. I was left with a can I couldn’t use. Their only suggestion: buy another can and repaint. Very unhelpful and unwilling to resolve the issue.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely disappointing customer service experience I’ve been a loyal customer at my local Selco for years and have generally found the staff helpful and polite. However, my recent experience returning a faulty paintbrush was appalling. The brush head detached during normal use, clearly due to a manufacturing fault. When I returned it the next day, the store manager was immediately hostile and dismissive. He claimed that because I had used the product, I had no right to a refund or exchange—completely ignoring the basic principle that some defects only become apparent during proper use. Rather than listening or trying to understand the situation, he was rude, condescending, and unprofessional throughout. Only after much insistence did he begrudgingly agree to an exchange, but by then the damage was done. I’ve never been treated with such disrespect in a retail environment. With Toolstation and Screwfix nearby—where I’ve always had positive experiences—I’m seriously reconsidering ever shopping at Selco again.

They have a lot of stuff i use. They want you to have a trade card but don't offer a discount unless you are buying a load of stuff, unlike Wicks. Delivery available and local to me. No problem with returns.

I like Selco and I like the staff but I have to downgrade my star rating because, if you walk into the store with a bag like a rucksack, they make you put it in a locker and give you the key. I always cycle so I can't just leave my bag in the van. So this is very irritating, especially when you just want to pop in briefly. No other store makes you do this. If Selco is that worried about shoplifting perhaps the security guards could keep an eye on suspicious people with bags rather than annoying the customers every time. Also where is your customer bicycle parking Selco?

I find all of their staff friendly and helpful. Price wise, they operate a customer loyalty scheme where you get from 5 to 20% discount depending on your annual spend with them. They're dog friendly too, which is great as I couldn't leave mine in the van on a hot day.

Since joining Selco I have been so impressed by how efficient and helpful your business is. Also the customer service at your Kingston store is the best I have ever experienced. The manager and his staff are first rate and should get a massive pat on the back.
