   I was installing a new lock on my door and needed to shorten the tailpiece for the lock. I didn't have the tools to went here to check. The lady at the front told me what I needed but then let me use the hacksaw, not once, but twice to cut it to the right length. The first time I cut it was too long. Really nice that they helped me out and will definetly be going there for future tooling needs. It is a bonus seeing the big dog on the couch which is a rescue

   Very friendly, attentive staff. My average spend is generally about 45p, but they always spend as long as it takes to find the right screw or drill bitt for me. They'll split a pack of ten furniture nuts at £2.50 to sell you one for 25p. And sell a surprising amount of things I didn't expect - garden seeds for example. Maybe they'll do me a ciabatta tricolore next time I'm in?! Generally great store.

   I was very welcomed even though I head an awkward request eg, cutting a copper tube by measure for a very specific project. It was the first time I haven't been there and nowadays, before going anywhere else, I always go there first. Shopping as it used to be, face do face, Supporting local business.    I have been going to this shop for about 15 years and I love it, and many other people do to. In my opinion not only is this the best local builders merchant I know its probably my favourite quirky shop in the world. Its such an aladins cave of usefull things. Its very fairly priced much better than the super stores. I have always recieved good service from the owner no matter how small the item im buying. For my mind this is just the kind of great local shop you should support, and I agree with the previous reviewer who says dont listen to the grumpy people who visited here once. Listen to the real locals.
