Passed by on a quiet Saturday morning while on a hunt for some screws. The person who served me was patient and gave me several options on how to achieve my goals.

I have been living in Addiscombe for 25 years, and this business represents a permanent presence on our high street. The shop is well stocked and unlike the out of town sheds, the owner has years of experience which proves invaluable to someone like myself with very little DIY/Hardware knowledge. I can not recommend this place enough.

Great local independent hardware store run by a very helpful and friendly chap. This hardware store has been around for decades and you would be surprised on the diversity of stuff they stock. Cumulatively I have saved sooo much time coming here rather than going to one of the soulless mininally-staffed superstores.

The plastic handle on our dishwasher snapped and I was concerned that it couldn't be repaired. The owner of Addiscome DIY came to the rescue and suggested his "secret superglue", which fixed the problem completely. He also researched and provided a line for a discontinued Flymo stripper. I always find the owner polite, friendly and most helpful. His shop has everything! Stocktaking must be a nightmare...

I really wanted to support this local hardware store, especially as it stocks a decent variety of items and is conveniently located. However, after several visits, I’ve found it difficult to justify shopping here. The biggest issue is the customer service. The staff member who is usually there comes across as uninterested, often quite short with customers, and doesn’t seem like they actually want to be there. It creates an unwelcoming atmosphere, which is a shame because a friendly, helpful approach would make a huge difference. On top of that, most of the products are marked up noticeably compared to other shops and online retailers. While I understand that independent stores have higher costs, there needs to be some value in the shopping experienceβ€”either through better service, unique items, or more competitive pricing. I do believe in supporting local businesses, but they also need to meet customers halfway. If the attitude and pricing were more reasonable, I’d be much happier to shop here regularly. As it stands, I find myself going elsewhere.

I remember going here as a child over 30 years ago... Recently needed a new set of keys cut. It was the only place open late Saturday afternoon. Well worth the 20 Mike round trip. Great service. Good prices too

Always very helpful and friendly place. Good hardware shop and always have what I need for general repairs and diy around the house.

I have used this Ironmongers for a number of years now. Despite having no DIY skill in any shape or form the staff are very helpful and patient. I never know what I am looking for and yet they always find it for me.
