Visited lakeside store (where im purchasing loads of materials in the last couple of months daily such as blades for different tools, paint, flooring, wood) and yesterday I had a discrimination throw to me and my nationality in the store Buying wood filler i been asked for an ID when provided European passport of mine been told - we can’t accept foreign passport (i can buy house, cigarettes, alcohol, knife and other things but cant buy a wood filler) after called manager been told the same. So if you are not English you are not welcomed at B&q lakeside store that was the message passed to me clearly. Date of visit 22.12.2025 at 18.40 I hope B&Q will follow what is said on them T&C regarding racism and will take actions

Firstly I would take the last two negative comments with a pinch of salt. This branch is amazing with lovely friendly staff. I was unfortunate to have a cardiac arrest over a week ago and the staff was so helpful well trained and actually save my life I’ve been in personally to thank them And I’ve done an email to head office special thank you to all the trade staff who came running and to Lisa the supervisor for the main customer till area who performed the CPR and save my life I can’t thank her enough and this branch

As a long-standing and loyal customer residing in West Thurrock, this particular B&Q store has been my primary choice for all my DIY needs for many years. My account records should reflect my significant annual spend (several thousand pounds), and I am familiar with many members of your staff, including management. My primary concern stems from a noticeable and disturbing change in how I am treated by staff. This behaviour seems to have started approximately two months ago following a specific dispute where I sought assistance with pipe sizes and drill bits, and felt the staff member was unhelpful. I strongly suspect this differential treatment I receive stems directly from this aforementioned dispute. Furthermore, I recently experienced similar unhelpful behaviour from a manager, whom I frequently see during the morning shift. A few weeks ago, I approached her for assistance with drain pipes, and received no help whatsoever, forcing me to bring in my old pipe parts to find a suitable match myself. Beyond my personal experience, I have also observed a general and concerning decline in overall customer service at this particular branch. Staff frequently offer vague and unhelpful directions, stating items are "on that aisle" without further assistance, often implying it's the customer's fault if they can't find it. I have personally witnessed elderly customers being ignored when seeking help on the shop floor, and a widespread lack of willingness to assist, often accompanied by unsmiling, unwelcoming expressions. It feels as though customers are viewed with disdain rather than as valued patrons. As a valued and long-term customer, this experience is not only profoundly disappointing but is also impacting my willingness to continue shopping at B&Q West Thurrock. I believe it is vital that these issues are addressed promptly to maintain your store's reputation and customer loyalty. I would appreciate a thorough investigation into these matters, particularly regarding the staff conduct I have experienced, and the wider decline in service standards at the West Thurrock branch. I am available to discuss this further at your convenience and provide more specific details if required.

I visited B&Q west Thurrock today. One of the largest B&Q I have seen. Spacious car park. The shop floor is tidy, well organised, well stocked. Tools hire service available. Experienced staff. Garden center has sheds available, some are marked at discounted price.

Place seems understaffed. Staff at the till were having a casual chat & paying no attention to the customers. Item was showing in stock online but when I arrived it wasn’t there. Overall poor experience.

The staff are always both friendly and helpful in this branch. My only gripe is that on a few occasions they didn't have a few of the items I needed which was annoying so maybe best to order online for collection to avoid disappointment if you are after a particular item.

The staff here are certainly workshy. Was trying to buy perspec the staff member I spoke to kind of just pointed to an area. The perspec wasn't there. Another member barely looked up mumbled the wrong location and went back to watching a video on his phone. I guess b&q is truly a DIY store.

Well presented if compared to other b&q. Have good range overall. A lot of items are discontinued or out of stock (every time i have visited). Not a lot of staff so it is really hard to find staff but staff is really friendly and ready to help (compared to other stores they have more staff but not professional though. I am only giving 3 stars because of availability is poor and secondly the workstations and checkout points are disgusting and broken. Extremely recommended if you are purchasing tiles or flooring very cheap out there.

Do it yourself.. Ha ha ha.. You can buy alot of house hold equipments for new installation or just maintenance. Be a tech or handy person youself. The staff will give u a guideline. You can return of you don't want what u buy any longer. They always give you discount and help u need. Simply talk to the staffs.
