Wouldn't normally recommend going out in windy days but Kinder Downfall is always best when windy. That way you get to see the amazing effect of the waterfall blowing upwards rather than flowing down.
Although the weather has been dry and the flow of water over the downfall was reduced, it was well worth the hike over from Edale. Not sure if there's an easier route from other points around Kinder but we were glad to have tracked across Kinder to see this phenomena. There was a good wind coming up the valley so the spray was visible from a reasonable way off, the view improving as you get closer.
Loved it. Challenging weather, rough terrain, muddy areas. Be careful. Recommended for hikers
Passed downfall after a hike up and around the edge. Beautiful part of the world and fabulous views, we had a mixed bag of weather with rain and cloud, but it didn't dampen our spirits or spoil the day
Loved climbing up this. Started off from Edale carpark. This a nice little challenging route. It was dryish but still water running down. The rocks are easy to navigate and a certain degree of fitness is required. Near the top you have some grade 1 scrambling. But all in all, well worth it.
Great hiking for all. We walked up past the reservoir. Unless there's been quite a bit of rain the downfall can be anything from nothing to a trickle but still some great views
Absolutely stunning and imposing waterfall. The sheer rock faces and cascading water make it a truly wonderful natural beauty. I personally climbed it on my last visit which was exciting, exhilirating, and more than terrifying, but overall a really great time. Hope to go back at some point; it's one of my favourite places in the Peaks
It's absolutely beautiful at Kinder Downfall. We usually set off from Bowden Bridge car park, we go past the reservoir and make our way up William Clough. I've been their in almost all weather conditions but obviously it is the best on a clear cool day.
A gorgeous beauty of natural rock feature high up on the Kinder Scout - quite a short but tough hike to get to and unfortunately mostly the dramatic waterfall is nothing but a bare trickle of water
