Helped by store manager Darian to reinstate tesco clubcard after having lost my phone e + cards. Took a while to download app, change forgotten passwords and recover, save and apply clubcard. All the while helping other cistomers and returning to check progress. Great patience, high level of IT knowledge and a wonderful nature. Thank you Darian! Wishing you a wonderful future.

Amazing experience shopping at last minute of opening. Had 2 x trolleys worth of goods and the staff, especially Michael on the self serve tills, were so polite, patients and pleasant. This was my best shopping experience at Woolwich Tesco. Thank you to Michael and the rest of the Tesco Woolwich team. I look forward to my next shop at that store.

Dear Tesco Customer Services, I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the poor standard of customer service I experienced at your Woolwich Extra store, located at Grand Depot Road, London SE18 6HQ, during a visit on the evening of Thursday, 22nd August 2025, between 22:20 and 22:35. I entered the store shortly after 22:20 to purchase a bottle of Captain Morgan rum and a bottle of Coca-Cola. After selecting my items, I proceeded to the self-checkout area, as I usually do when shopping at this store. When I attempted to scan the bottle of Captain Morgan, the checkout system did not register it properly due to the protective security wrapping still being on the bottle. As expected, the system prompted for staff assistance to remove the security tag and approve the age-restricted item. I raised my hand and waited patiently for assistance. Despite making it visibly clear that I required help, several Tesco staff members were standing together nearby, engaged in what appeared to be personal conversation rather than assisting customers. Two female members of staff made direct eye contact with me, yet chose to ignore my raised hand and did not acknowledge me or offer assistance. This went on for several minutes, and I felt completely disregarded and invisible as a customer. Eventually, I managed to get the attention of a staff member whose name badge identified her as "Uma." Unfortunately, her attitude was nothing short of rude, abrupt, and dismissive. She approached the self-checkout terminal without any form of greeting, eye contact, or acknowledgment. Her facial expression could only be described as unfriendly and disengaged conveying irritation rather than any willingness to help. More concerningly, she approved the item without verifying whether it had scanned properly, and without checking the bottle or removing the security wrap. Had she paid any attention, it would have been obvious that the item hadn’t gone through the till correctly. When I attempted to explain the issue, she walked away mid-sentence, without so much as a word. I called her again to try and get the situation resolved, but she was already assisting another customer. When I tried to speak to her, she cut me off rudely and told me to “wait,” with a tone and manner that made it clear she had no interest in offering respectful service. The whole interaction, which took place between 22:30 and 22:35, left me feeling frustrated, belittled, and honestly quite shocked at the level of unprofessionalism on display. I have been a regular customer at this Tesco location for several years. I live locally, and I usually find the store well-run, with helpful and courteous staff. This is the first time I’ve felt compelled to lodge a complaint and it is solely due to the unacceptable conduct of this particular staff member and the general lack of attentiveness shown by others present. The service I received fell far below Tesco’s usual standards and expectations for customer interaction. It is unacceptable for customers to be ignored when requesting assistance, especially in a store that relies heavily on self-checkout systems and staff approval for restricted items. I would appreciate it if this matter could be investigated properly, and I would like to know what actions will be taken to ensure better staff training and accountability at this branch. Staff should be reminded of the importance of professional conduct, attentiveness, and common courtesy especially in the closing hours of the store when customers still expect the same level of service as during the day.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mr. Azeez for his exceptional assistance in guiding me through the process of obtaining a Tesco Mobile Sim Card. His warm and welcoming smile made me feel appreciated, and his clear explanations were invaluable. I'm grateful for his help in finding a suitable contract that meets my needs. I'd also like to thank On-Site Shift Manager Olson for his overall contribution and support. Both Mr. Azeez and Mr. Olson demonstrated outstanding customer service, making my experience with Tesco Mobile truly positive. Thank you again for your excellent service. I appreciate your efforts and look forward to continuing my service with Tesco Mobile.

It's my 9th visit to Tesco Extra at Grand Depot Rd, London SE18 6HQ and everytime the experience has been consistently great. The store is always well-stocked, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I particularly appreciate how clean and organized everything is, which makes shopping so much easier. Whether I’m grabbing a quick meal or doing a full grocery run, Tesco Extra on Grand Depot Rd never disappoints. Highly recommend!

I'm torn because the location is perfect. It's HUGE and has almost everything you're looking for but OMG try coming here on a weekend?? good lord, it's SAVAGE. You will get trampled, EVERYONE'S in a bad mood (shout out to my girl at the costumer service desk!) and the wait to check out is AT LEAST 20 minutes if you go during peak hours on a weekend

Huge store with good range of items. However it could be cleaner and more tills need to be open. I would avoid the toilets at all cost, they are always filthy. Tills that are card only causes colleagues to get agitated and shout at customers to inform them it’s “card only”. I have had colleagues waving the sign in my face instead of advising me in a civilised manner. I pay card only anyways so it is not a problem but this behaviour with card only till needs to be addressed.

Good range of product at this Tesco extra, but almost always long queues because about half the tills are open and often 1 or 2 of the self checkouts out of operation. So expect to wait 10 minutes in queue at a checkout more often than not. Shareholder profit > customer convenience, your time is their money through payroll savings.

This is a cool one stop and shop place to buy your groceries and home goods. Need a membership to access the deals and prices.

Poor customer checkout management!!! Takes ages to leave the store because it does not have the capacity to cope with the huge volume of people that this store is now local to. Management and shareholders keep pushing back the tillpoint upgrades needed from October 2022 to a vague “next year.” The store simply cannot cope with demand at literally any time, and nothing is being done about it.
