Very good park with a lovely community. It needs some refurbishment currently for equipment but otherwise very friendly atmosphere there. It is on side of the canal so kids can have a good view of the canal side, a nice picnic area and also sometimes a refreshment boat service present there for ordering food and hot drinks. There is a toilet facility available as well on busy summer days. Every Saturday there is a train ride for kids. I think that is the most unique part of this park. This park organises fairs and events on regular basis.

Lovely little park with a charming train ride! The miniature train made my child so happy β€” we’ve been on other small amusement trains before, but this one felt extra special because the tiny model train actually pulls real passengers! It starts running around 11 a.m., and tickets are 30p per ride. One small tip: bring some coins, as the ride is run in a wonderfully old-fashioned way without digital payments β€” it’s nice to support such a lovely attraction.

Wonderful bit of park and nature in Sale. The canal is beautiful on a sunny day as well as the boat bar. Lovely for a walk with the dogs.

I recently visited Walton Park for a day of family and friends fun, and it turned out to be a delightful experience. The park offered a wide range of amenities that catered to various interests. One of the highlights of the park was its well-maintained playground. It was thoughtfully divided into sections, ensuring that children of all ages could have a great time. The play area for toddlers was perfect for the little ones to explore and play safely, while the separate play area for older kids provided an engaging space for them to run, climb, and have fun. Sports enthusiasts had their share of excitement too. The tennis and basketball courts were in excellent condition, and what I particularly liked was the flexibility to use the same court for 5-a-side football. We even tried our hand at cricket, although it might not have been the intended use for the space. The only downside was that the toilets were closed during our visit, which was a bit inconvenient, hopefully this might have been a temporary issue. For those looking for a quieter experience, the peaceful walk by the canal adjacent to the park was a serene escape from the playground's energy. Additionally, the small train ride available on Sundays added an extra layer of excitement for the kids. One minor suggestion would be to add more slides to the kids' play area. After a while, my children did start to get a bit bored, and a few additional play elements could have kept them entertained for longer. All in all, our visit to Walton Park was a pleasant one. It's a well-rounded destination for families, sports enthusiasts, and those seeking a tranquil walk by the water. With a few minor improvements, it could become an even more attractive spot for a day of outdoor enjoyment.

Nice local park, with small steam train some days, and check out the canal, where there is often a canal boat selling coffees and much else.

This is a lovely little park being well maintained by the Friends of Walton Park. Great to see that there's a barge moored up on the canal next to the park which sells a variety of drinks and food

Only went to view the new memorial plaque for the war plane crash which was very good. Had a quick walk round as it was raining but seems a nice park with a model railway track not sure when it is used.

Lovely park, great location of a walk followed by coffee & cake

Lovely park and the train is cool but loes 2 stars (my 10yo option) due to how poor the play area is for children his age. Lots of stuff (in fact 2 play areas) for younger children but slightly older children the equipment is missing
