Used to be one of the world's leading jazz clubs but now for whatever reason the musicians are more young.local and up and coming bands and not the top notch variety. Having said that there is a glimmer of hope with Liz Fletcher, Andy Panayi and Pigfoot - appearing there shortly - watch out for these three gigs
Can't fault the music and the crowd is friendly enough. Actually, the music was was served with skill and passion. Whereas, food being served, seemingly as an afterthought, canteen style in another part of the building was pointless although sufficient just nothing special.
Wakefield Jazz is excellent. A friendly, welcoming atmosphere with an entertaining and varied weekly programme to suit all tastes. The venue has now been refurbished with the performance area now situated in the inner room space. The acoustics are just as good as before although there sightline issues in one area due to a structural pillar. The main entrance door is unchanged.
Best Jazz in the county if not the country. Friendly atmosphere. Good selection of drinks. Even food; if you book in advance ;and you can eat alongside the band. Well worth a visit Friday's at 8:30 or eat before 8pm.
Always provides a good night of live Jazz. With a varied soundscape every Friday night from well known artist's to new talent. After over 30 years it just grows in status, very well-known. If you enjoy live music, Jazz and haven't been before put Friday nights in your diary you will not be disappointed. Bar, food and a very warm welcome see you soon...

Fabulous night out again, thanks to Chris and the team. This is Yorkshire's premier jazz club. Ok it might not be what you expect in terms of venue, as it is the Hockey Club Bar, but that does mean cheaper drinks! I have not eaten there, so can't comment, but food is available. The reason this is a premier jazz club is down to the quality of the acts they book, which are usually of an international standard, every Friday in the season
