Really annoying when there is a line of customers waiting to pay, yet they can’t be bothered to open all the self-checkout positions.
This is the main Lidl I go too when I need a few bits. I don't do my full shop here but come for some things as it's definitely cheaper. This store is clean and you never have to wait too long to check out.

I clearly remember that you could only pay by cash. And buying many quantities of one item was not allowed. For example, orange juice, you could only buy two or three at a time. Originally, there were a lot of non branded food items. Slowly, but regularly, branded items have increased, and now you'll find non branded as well as branded items sitting on a shelf next to each other. With that, the quality and quantity of produce have increased and have greatly improved. Many of the stores have a bakery section where you can smell the fresh bread as soon as you walk into the store. For example, their butter croissants has a beautifully amazing smell and taste. Also, the additional items that arrive for sale on a Thursday was not happening at the beginning but now has increased to a great level. You can pick up a leaflet a week before to find out what is turning up next Thursday. When Thursday arrives, you will see a huge queue of people waiting before the store opens to try and get hold of the items they want. I Remember I was keen to buy a laptop from a Thursday sale. I arrived early and queued but unfortunately that week the laptop did not arrive. The next week I queued again and thankfully the laptop arrived and I bought it. Today, you will find that Lidl is offering a first, and that is you freshly squeezed orange juice from their stores. All the prices increased from £3.99 to £4.49 steel that 1L of freshly squeezed orange juice has an amazing. Such a great shopping experience in Lidl, where they value their customers, after Aldi, oops, I meant all. Definitely worth walking the extra mile and their selection is great.
The store is ok with a wide variety of products. At the same time you cannot find some branded products. Most of their products are only in their stores and nowhere else - the quality being questionable. By the evening you may not find bread/bakery on the shelf because they are already preparing to close the store even though there are still 2 hours until then. Sometimes there is a lingering unpleasant smell and can be dirty. They have self check out and you can pay in cash or by card.
Lidl on upper Tooting is great, great staff, I have an issue that there are only 2 cash self service tills which are always quite busy if you have any problem while scanning items the person behind you gets abusive. Today it took me few seconds to find the vegetable on the screen, the person behind me got up to me and jabbed his finger on the screen and was very angry. I saw this happening to another lady the other day. Why don’t they add at least 2 more cash tills. I like to use cash so I can keep my spending under control.
Brand new bigger store has opened after the little one closed just down the road. Looks clean and tidy with new decor. Well stocked. Always liked their bakery, especially the baguettes and croissants! Checkout was smooth, hardly waited in queue. Experience much better than the smaller Lidl that is now closed.
