Well done A & E. Had a bad fall at home and injured shoulder. Went for a check up this morning. Staff most efficient, professional and friendly. Even supplied sandwiches for lunch. Various tests incl BP and ecg. Delay was at a minimum. Very impressed.

The best A&E department i have ever been to, the waiting room was really crowded so yes there was a wait of 4hrs. But this isn’t their fault, this is down to selfish people coming to them for toothache and coughs. These people are the reason they are so full and busy and it’s a waste of time for you both.i went with suspected appendicitis i was triaged, bloods taken within 3 hours, they then had me on a IV to give me antibiotics and morphine to get me out of pain, then they transferred me to a different hospital, this was all in 3 hours. Couldn’t fault them at all.

Most of the staff were cold and uncaring. Waited 6.5 hours to be seen and then the doctor who had my blood results didn't even tell me about a serious issue, he just sent it on to my GP instead.

Recently(24th September)received care at Southport hospital and can honestly say that it was 100% I came back from Greece with a badly fractured wrist. Went to A&E at 8.30 in the morning, saw a triage nurse, emergency nurse practioner, had xrays and saw the orthopaedic team all in 2hrs. I was admitted the following day to 14a ,staff were reassuring and friendly, and within 40mins I was in theatre. The care I received in recovery was second to none special thanks to Paul who stayed with me throughout. Spent overnight on ward 10b were the care was exemplary despite them being really busy. As a retired nurse it has restored my faith in the NHS.

Staff in A&E and facture clinic were brilliant today, thank you so much for looking after me. Shame the same can't be said about senior management running the NHS!!!

Pulled up outside the doors no ambulance in sight with a patient, broken leg, was told by a very angry woman (staff member) to move my car, park, and carry the patient into the hospital. I moved 2 metres to the curb and grabbed a wheelchair. Shocking.

Very long waiting time - it took more than 7 hours for very urgent matter. Arrival time 22.52 pm. Blood pressure and obs were taken 23.34 pm. Blood test done after more than 2 hours , I was waiting for result and nurse consultation till 6 am.. Need to mention - receptionist rudely corrected me when I asked why it takes so long, I've been waiting six hours, she told me 5 hours 48 minutes actually... Even when consulting with nurse i was made to feel that my concerns were irrelevant and not a concern of theirs, A&E don't have the specialist requured for my problem so nurse had to call another hospital for advise, advise given back with a demeaning attitude. After slightly heated consultation I was the reffered to Ormskirk hospital. I got amazing service in Ormskirk hospital.Doctor and staff done everything necessary and matter was finished. If Southport hospital A&E know my problem and knew they didnt have the correct specialist why not refer me in the first instance and reduce waiting times for others?

have literally never had a good experience of this place. if i have a heart attack my last words will be “don’t take me to southport hospital”. came in last week after being advised to by a medical professional regarding an injury i had which was believed to be infected. waited four hours to eventually be seen by a doctor (who wouldn’t even bother looking me in the eyes when he spoke) who took one look at my injury and said “you’ll be fine”. and when i had the nerve to not respond in under three seconds i was asked in a very condescending tone “so is that it?” at which point i felt very embarrassed and just said yes and left. a week later and i have had to be taken to a&e (at a different hospital) because - shocker - it was infected and thanks to this place went untreated for a week longer than it should’ve done. thanks guys!

My elderly mother was admitted today with a fractured hip. The treatment and overall service has been first class. All the staff are lovely. It's great to meet staff with a "can do" attitude, right from the receptionists in A&E to all the helpers and nursing staff, well done Southport hospital
