I had a total hip replacement at Chester Nuffield Hospital on 1st December 2025 and received outstanding care throughout my stay. Despite a very busy day with staffing pressures and issues with heating and hot water, every member of staff remained professional, compassionate and incredibly supportive. Special thanks to Mr Thomas Hunter (Consultant) and Dr Santokh Singh (Anaesthetist) for their exceptional expertise and reassurance. The ward team—including Sister Clare, Michelle (Pharmacist), Danielle, Chloe, Mia, Louise, Jane, Donna and Sylvia (Catering)—were fantastic. I would also like to thank Jane Doughton (Physio Lead) and the brilliant physiotherapists Vicky and Nina, who supported me with patience, expertise and encouragement. The teamwork, kindness and dedication shown by all staff were truly remarkable. I felt safe, supported and in excellent hands at all times. Highly recommended. Claire Last

Recently had a hernia operation. The level of care from admission to discharge was first class. I couldn’t recommend this hospital enough. Absolutely brilliant. Nurses, ward staff, consultants were all exceptional. Thankyou

Excellent care from start to finish - been on Betswy cadwallader waiting list to even be seen for over 2.5 years, they are in contract with Nuffield to sort my consultation & operation - done yesterday, to help cut waiting lists - all staff excellent, had my 1st anaesthetic ever & op, and couldn't have gone any smoother. Thank you to all staff, special mentions to Staff Nurse Christine (days 24th) Emma (overnight) & Hannah (bank nurse today) but everyone great. Thank you from a very loyal NHS worker for 41 years, but grateful for Nuffield care! Ali Broster - Room 6

I had a full hip replacement at Nuffield Health, Chester on Friday 1st August. The team at Nuffield Health are fantastic. My family brought me in and we were made to feel welcome straight away. There was no waiting or delays. One of the nurses even went out to get some cakes for my children. I was reassured about the procedure and I can not speak highly enough about all who cared for me during my time there. I never felt left alone and help was always a buzzer away. The nurses were fun and kept my spirits up following my surgery and my physio supported me in getting home the next day. My consultant was amazing, he came to visit me the following day and even called me at home on Sunday to ask how I was. You’re all amazing, thank you for looking after me!

Just had to turn round half way to my blepharoplasty consultation coming from manchester which i had booked weeks ago as Ms A.Breahna just decided she won’t do the procedure on someone of my age (22) despite making my age crystal clear from the beginning. very disappointed and psyched myself up for nothing.

This hospital is very poor in that it’s really difficult to get in contact with anyone. Either the main line number just rings and rings until the call is eventually cancelled. Or on the very rare occasion that you do get through( maybe 1 in 10 calls), you’re then directed to a department specific answer phone. It’s impossible to speak to someone to resolve a query about an appointment. I’ve also tried sending messages via the hospital online contact form and that went nowhere. Then when they eventually do call to book an appointment it’s first thing in the morning on the same day with 1 hours notice of the appointment time. It’s not good enough.

I have experienced private medical insurance overseas and am sadly disappointed with private medical benefits in the UK and especially with the Nuffield hospital locally in Chester. Call answering is delayed; it’s a laborious process getting into a doctor and then the facilities are very average in comparison to even a third world country hospital like many I have used in South Africa which are vastly superior in my opinion. Their state of the art machinery; patient service and 5 star facilities are much better. I’m actually travelling back to them next year for treatment due to a lack of faith in the ones locally. Really sad.

So today 16th september was in for a gastroscopy diagnosis, 22 weeks after gastric sleeve. Again must say all staff where utter amazing again, reception from when i arrived to be take to day care suite, reception checkin. Was checked in by Heather and Emily who checked all my details, got me into one of the sexy gowns they provide for you. Had my obs done and id bracelet fitted and then a canula inserted, explained what was next. Was then introduced to the other staff who where dealing with me in the op suite. Sedated me and explained the procedure. I came around back in my room, where Heather and Emily then rechecked my obs, all good, gave me a drink of water make sure i was ok, Emily was fantastic, she removed my canula with removing any arm hair too and i was allowed to dress an then escorted into main reception with a hot drink and then waited for my transport home. Amazing staff here at the Nuffield, so caring and professional, thank you.
