Came here this morning 15/12/2025 and I have to say Gail on reception on the first floor was amazing went out of her way for everybody in the room and when I went into the side room I could still hear her asking everybody, if they were ok and if they needed anything what a credit she must be to your business . I was referred to SpaMedica Widnes by my optician to have my second cataract done and as in the first time I attended my first appointment was was within a couple of weeks and surgery was the week after. I couldn't compliment the staff enough from the time I went through the door until the time I came out they were all excellent. From the receptionists to the operating team everything explained in detail and everyone was very friendly and polite. If I had a third eye I would certainly go back to them.

I was referred here by my optician. Yes I was impressed by the speedy response. I attended clinic and had all relevant investigations. No issues. Day of surgery arrived I was sat in a waiting room for nearly an hour. Then called through to see a nurse who checked my paperwork & put a little tablet into the lower eye. Then sat around again for an hour. This was yo allow the tablet to dilate the pupil. I was Then asked to sit in another area. I was here for around 15.minutes. I then saw a nurse who added more drops & iodine into my eye. I thensat waiting in this room to see the Surgeon. He came in spoke no more than 2 words to me then went back into theatre. I was called into theatre. No one introduced themselves. I sat on the theatre trolley. Then the surgery started, no one really explained what was about to happen. I found it a very poor experience. I was frightened & I struggled throughout the process. I found ot hard to cope with the water going into my eye & running into my hair. Afterwards the staff were a little more attentive when they took me back to the waiting room. I sat there for may be 5 minutes then went to see the discharge nurse. I can honestly say I actually couldn't listen to what she told me as I was so traumatised from the surgery. What was missing through out was the reassuring staff who explained and reassured me sitting around for hours was awful, unnecessary and increased my anxiety. I think people are doing this job day in day out its a blaise approach. No I wouldn't recommend this clinic as it is. I would also suggest sedation

Mum had her catteract operation here. Very professional and quick, she was only there for 2 hours. Now waiting for her to be seen by her optician then she'll get her appointment for her other eye to be done in the next few weeks

Had a cataract op on Friday 17th February. I was terrified. The team did everything to make me feel better. Marcel the surgeon even sang to me. A wonderful nurse held my hand throughout. I didn’t feel any pain and I can see perfectly now. SpaMedical are professional and caring. I highly recommend them.

First of all I have not been a patient at this remarkable premises at widnes. My wife today 17th November 2022 has undergone treatment on her 2nd eye. The curtesy afforded both patients and partners is 2nd to none. In times of uncertainty in the N.H.S. it certainly doesn't show at Spa medica everyone is so professional in the initial approach to patients from start to finish. Congratulations to all the staff we see at front of house and staff behind the scenes. A very well done all. From Phil Buckley on behalf of his wife Helen.

The team at Widnes are absolutely excellent, couldn't have had better care both times. However, following my 100% pain free, totally relaxing experience with the first eye operation, I was unfortunate enough to feel the second eye being done, ie, felt strong, badly aching pressure which was not pleasant and so far, 8 days later, the vision is poor so hoping it will still improve to balance with the first eye.Wonderful staff at Widnes though and it runs like clockwork.

Zero stars if I could. Really bad after care and service. Cancelled my mother in law's operation 3 times the 4th time they decided she needed anesthesia sent her out 10 minutes later (honestly this should have been done at consultation). But we have since spent 8 weeks chasing up them sending a later to our go for a referral. First they never even posted it so we asked them to post. Then we gave the GPS email address and they didn't send have had to chase them yet again but have to wait as customer service can not send emails. Big joke

Cannot thank all the staff involved in me having my cataract removed on Friday 22nd. July. Everyone put me at ease, the operation was completely painless and my eyesight is now better than it was 30 years ago! If anyone is worried about having this procedure all I can say is go for it, it will give you greatly enhanced vision
