It's an amazing historical building with architecture and furnishings. The room we stayed in is very spacious and comfy with many period furniture. Excellent home made breakfast , thanks to Steph who is very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.

The Tower is my all-time, favourite place to stay. We have stayed here several times and never been disappointed. The Tower is a beautiful, medieval building, set in idyllic and blissfully peaceful grounds. It is a very special place to visit. I always feel it is such a privilege to stay in this historically fascinating building, that almost feels like a castle and yet also homely and welcoming. The hosts, John and Steph, are so lovely, friendly and helpful and would do anything for you. The breakfasts are delicious, sometimes served in the magnificent baronial-style hall and sometimes in the gorgeous dining and lounge area. There is a privately-situated gazebo in the grounds where we have spent many a happy hour or so with the odd bottle of fizz, only interrupted by dips in the hot tub, which John sets up on request. Our favourite room is the large front one overlooking the pond, but all the rooms are lovely and the big ones are equipped with a fridge and microwave. If you want to stay somewhere very special, give this place a try. It's wonderful.

I've stayed here twice and enjoyed both stays. The hosts are lovely and very accommodating - always trying to make my stay as pleasant as possible. The room I stayed in had very high ceilings and had the character of 'a castle from the olden days'.

Great local hotel with tons of character set in a beautiful former fortified house. John and Steph were helpful and friendly, and Steph’s breakfasts are not to be missed! (I had an excellent Welsh Rarebit). Would happily return.

The Tower is one of the area's discreet yet alluring finds for anyone looking for overnight accommodation in dynastic surroundings, or woodland glamping, and indeed for outdoor events like weddings or events requiring seclusion for Daoist or Buddhist practice. I remember enjoying dinner here once with the International Wine and Food Society. This would have been in the late 1980's and I imagine the dining hall for such an occasion would be negotiable. Fast forward a couple of decades and this time my friend stayed here in one of the woodland "glampervans". She was delighted to have the unique features available to her, which she capitalised on to have a family picnic. Nice find.

Awful experience, please remember there's no background checks or regulations applying to this accomodation and it was the worst nightmare for our family. Untrustworthy, dispreputable owner who realised when we arrived after a 5h drive that he had mistakenly gave our room to someone else "as he didn't check their name" - then to make it worse instead of having the integrity to fix the problem, he told us to come back after dinner so he could speak to the other people to move, but he said they ignored his calls... so late we slept on the floor with friends. Then after this, he told us in the morning to find somewhere else despite having a baby and a wedding in 2h to prepare for...completely shocking how bad it was and I wouldn't wish it on anyone let alone a family. Please avoid and go to a hotel which has credibility not a hoax!!!

Amazing place. Full of character. Thanks to John & Steph. Our return visit was every bit as good as the first time. To stay in the Tower is a very special and totally memorable experience in itself. Thoroughly recommended.
