Have ordered before and it’s been good, enjoyed the food but did think the portion size was small. Ordered tonight and was waiting almost an hour on “Thanks for your order” before Just Eat finally allowed me to cancel without charging me. Not sure what happened tonight, if it was Just Eat’s issue or the chip shop’s?
I don’t know who rates this place over 2 star. The chips looks like it’s been reused from the trash. The portion of meat and chips is absolute joke. Meat ain’t cooked properly. Waste of money. I leave in Kent area. I won’t recommend anyone who is new in this area and wanting to try kebab or any food in this place. I ordered peri peri chicken wings, it looked and smelled like it’s been stored in fridge for ages. Disgusting business. Food inspector needs to inspect this place.
2.5 out of 5 stars. Had large fish and chips, double cheeseburger, mix donner in pitta and a curry sauce. The fish and chips was a bit hit and miss because the batter on the fish is very nice but the cod inside was dry unfortunately. The chips tasted better then they looked but were still average. Cheeseburger was average. The mix donner in pitta was average as well. Curry sauce was nice. Lemon wedge is a nice touch with the fish&chips. Customer service was very good. Considering the amount paid the food could be even better.
Been going 1-2x a week for the past 2 months. Every time I get a different meal. So much variety in the cuisine and every dish is very very tasty, would highly recommend the chicken donner and the gourmet burger absolute bangers. Calling the customer service “incredible” feels like an understatement. The twins treated me like family from the very first time I stepped into the shop. Hats off to the twins and the whole staff.
As a treat I decided that I wanted something different preferably to my everyday cooking and therefore had popped into Shaks Fish Bar & Peri Peri and since it was a Friday night why not? I had ordered a large portion of chips and donner meat with salad on the side and helpings of both chilli sauce and mayonnaise (I, however did want a mix donner meat but just asked for the donner meat so next time I will). The food is amazing and wished I had ordered more as they are the best tasting chips and donner meat in town. The guy that served me was friendly and I didn't have to wait so long to get my food. The food on the menu are reasonably priced too and have a range of different options available. I will definitely be returning as a customer and hopefully get a larger portion and to remember to ask for a mixed donner meat and lastly i would like to thank everyone working at Shaks Fish Bar & Peri Peri
Exceeded all expectations. We ordered the masala fish wrap and the chicken sizzler, both were absolutely delicious. The fish was cooked better than at half the sit-down restaurants I’ve been to. Also such a reasonable price. I will be returning here frequently. Thank you to the brothers who served us, they were lovely. If you’re thinking of trying Shak’s… DO. You won’t regret it
The food is described in such a colourful way that you would assume it's some of the best you will ever have. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations, especially when you factor in the price of how much you are paying. The chips were average, and order notes for salt and vinegar were not followed unfortunately. The beef burger was well over cooked with the patty being quite thin, took a very char grilled flavour overpowering the burger. The kebab was fresh and the meat was of good quality, but the flavours of the Sizzler Kebab were quite bland given the colourful description of how amazing it should be. It was just a few added cooked onions and peppers. Overall disappointed, but not the worst food but certainly not the best. For the price I expected better. EDIT. I have never rang the store and wow did not expect such an awful reply. I am glad you replied as now I will never order again. You really need to work on your customer service. You contradicted yourself saying you follow order notes when clearly you don't. This is not a way to run a business.
