It’s almost impossible to get an appointment at Albion Surgery. Their WhatsApp β€œbot” system doesn’t work properly - there’s no option to book a normal appointment (not even for something routine like a skin check), and it just loops you around without letting you speak to a real person. When I phoned the surgery, the staff said they couldn’t book me in either and told me to use the same broken bot system. There’s no clear way to arrange a standard, non-emergency appointment, which makes the whole process very frustrating and unhelpful for patients. Option left is to see a dermatologist in a private facility. I’m glad to see the NHS back on its feet again.

Leaving a 1 star based on my most recent experience with GP. My 21 month old was not seen by the doctor despite having serious eye infection and other related issues that meant she was in a lot of discomfort. Instead of checking her, they sent me to minor eye care, which I learnt once following the link shared that it takes you to the contact details for opticians. Upon contacting them, it was clear they were not sure of the process, did not have any appointments until 2 days later, and expressed surprise (concerns) about seeing such a young child rather than the doctor. Also, I was sent to pharmacist, who also stated not an expert at doing the assessment needed on an infant. The pharmacist upon seeing her asked why I did not go to GP instead (note, I sent the GP pictures of her). He was concerned so advised me to go to urgent care if not getting the assistance i needed from my GP. I then rang the surgery again only to be told no appointments that day so I should either fill the same forms I had already done 7am that day to try get her seen the following day or that I should take her to urgent care. A whole day wasted trying to get care for my increasingly unwell 1 year old. After over 4 hours in urgent care she got seen, doctor confirmed needed medication and provided subscription i had expected my GP to have simply done during the day; the whole stressful experience so very much avoidable. Instead, my baby was exposed late into the night and finally got home to sleep after 11pm. So unacceptable. The next morning, she could not even open her eyes at all from all the discharge from her eyes and one eye very swollen; luckily I had the medication. After 1 day of a 5 day treatment, nearly all the thick green/yellow discharge that was seeping out of her eyes is gone. I was advised by the albion GP over the phone (the reason given for why they would not see her) that I should wait 10 days to see if clears because antibiotics won't make any difference. Clearly it did and so using this as a reason to refuse to see or treat her as suspected was not valid. No guarantees that the 10 days of constant eye discharge, stuck eyes, reduced visibility and crying, would have solved the problem by itself. However, 1 day of antibiotics has helped my baby to sleep again, not have discharge and be close to recovery. Its one thing to be treated like this as an adult but completely unacceptable to treat young toddlers like this and refuse to see them. My child should never have had to go to urgent care to be checked properly, just completely poor and uncompassionate service. Standards have clearly dropped. Children should always be prioritised. No excuses!

Great practice. Recently had an appointment with the nurse Louise. She went above and beyond during my appointment. She was kind, caring and took her time to explain everything. Emma was also great in getting me a referral letter promptly. I can always get an appointment quickly and the staff are very responsive .

My experience with The Albion surgery has been first class! I feel like I have been listened to and looked after and had everything explained to me in a way that I can understand. I cannot fault the new way of making appointments in any way- very pleased with the service.

I have been with this surgery since it was at 2A The Broadway in the 1960s and I started with Dr Bolton, followed by Dr Joyner, who were both very good. Today the service is poor. Dr Emma Aygekum appears to have been Negligent and should have referred me to the specialist for a cancerous growth on my forehead to be removed after three months, but she failed to do so. It was only when I managed to get another appointment with Dr Ascott-Barber that I was referred to the specialist, who was appalled that I hadn't been referred sooner. I now have a growth on my back that Dr Rasheedah Amussah gave me some anti-biotics for, which helped. However, she took photos a few months ago and was supposedly sending them to the specialist, but I've heard nothing. I phoned the surgery after a month, only to be told they have heard nothing. It's now months yet still nothing. She should chase them up and get me an appointment, but it would appear she does nothing. I've emailed the surgery but have not had a reply, I suppose she's too afraid to get back to me. If it turns out to also be cancerous, then this will look like the second case of negligence at the Albion Surgery against me. I'm not impressed, but the Crook Log Surgery has very bad reviews as well, so unless we go private, it looks as though the NHS GP surgeries are forever going to give us poor service, especially with this ridiculous online system we have to keep using now just to get an appointment. I question what our National Insurance contributions and taxes are getting spent on, because they certainly aren't on constantly good service from local GP surgeries. I also seriously question what qualifications Doctors Aygekum and Amussah have.

I have been with the Albion Surgery since moving to the area just over 3 years ago. I have experienced 10/10 care from every doctor I’ve seen here. When completing the online form I receive a call within hours which either arranged a face to face appointment the same day for my children or an instant solution to my concern. Cannot fault it. Especially appreciate Dr Arscott-Barber as he is always happy to help and responds in a very timely manner.

Went here today and was immediately handed a face mask from a receptionist who was not wearing one herself. No notice on the door to say about masks, and was greeted by the usual rude staff, saying "it's the doctors decision". I'm finding it hard to understand why members of the general public are forced to wear a mask, where nowhere else asks you too, PLUS I never saw one member of staff in their reception area wearing a mask. No wonder this surgery has such poor reviews.

My mum uses this surgery and told me today that one of the receptions refused to help my mum with an appointment because of a wound that disgusted her (the receptionist) and that she could not look at her. I am disgusted by the unprofessional behaviour. How dare you make my mother feel ashamed and embarassed like that. How dare you! Do better!

Amazing, I have been with this surgery nearly 4 years and honestly 1 of the best. From reception staff to the doctors. If I have had any issues with form online. Reception staff have been amazing and happy to help. This surgery does not get enough credit.
