A truly lovely cinema experience! Housed in a stunning 100+ year old theatre, this cinema offers both charm and character. The staff are exceptionally polite and welcoming, embodying the kind of gracious British mannerisms that are increasingly rare to find in London. A perfect blend of heritage and hospitality — highly recommended!

The Gate is a stunning single-screen 114-year-old cinema with a rich history, located in Notting Hill Gate. This charming cinema boasts an ornate auditorium and frequently shows captivating arthouse films. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always going above and beyond to ensure that visitors have a memorable experience.

An old cinema that shows its age, with chipping paint, crumbling walls and other odds and ends, which some may find charming or not. The toilets are a bit gross, which I imagine is because of the fact they have no vents, so there are a million air fresheners, like you’d find in a home with body parts hidden away. Volume was quite loud so I had to reduce it with my ear plugs. Staff seemed friendly and the chairs with a little table in between is a nice touch.

Very cute old cinema that seems to be well-maintained and keeps a lot of its heritage. The seats were comfy with nice tables in between. The staff was helpful and the bar serves very nice popcorn. Ticket prices were reasonable, not cheap but not very expensive either. We haven’t tried the bathrooms as other reviews mention the bathrooms are a downfall. My main point is that during the movie it started with subtitles for the first 10 minutes then they restarted the movie without subtitles. For a 3-hour movie with a lot of events, characters, and details, having subtitles is really important to be able to keep track. Other than that everything was nice!

Lovely old fashioned cinema with single screen. Centrally located in Notting Hill. Friendly staff, comfortable seating, good selection of snacks/beverages.

Stunning interior. Anywhere you sit has a great view. Easy wheelchair access but no disabled toilets (from what I've seen). Lost a star for the quality of the toilets, quite old fashioned but they do work! However I do love that there's small tables between the seats, that's always helpful

The best cinema in London. Very intimate and cozy atmosphere with interesting films. Great snacks and drinks menu with something for everyone. Special mention to the wonderful staff who elevate the experience every time.

The gate is a lovely cinema in central london that holds special screenings as well as reruns of older movies. The cinema is spacious and there are sofas in the back-rows that are very comfortable. They have a good selection of snacks and the staff are really lovely. The only thing I would say, however, is the screen itself is quite small and especially if you’re sitting in the back it can be hard to see.

Great vintage vibe, great staff, the only issue is that the tickets are overpriced, which I do not blame them, the management probably thinks it's the only way to keep up with big cinema cooperations. Would definitely watch another movie here soon.
