I’ve been to nft1 a few times now for various events at southbank, and most recently attended for the Jon m chu talk. the venue is sweet and the chairs are comfortable, despite it being a little cramped. the acoustics are brilliant though and it’s always so well organised :)
Great theatre within a great centre for film enthusiasts.
BFI Southbank's NFT1 offers a solid cinematic experience with its classic charm. The seating is comfortable, but quite cramped, so if someone needs to pass by, you'll have to stand up to let them through. The screen and sound quality are decent, though not on par with modern cinemas. What really stands out is the unique and rare film selection, making it a great spot for true film enthusiasts. However, the overall experience could benefit from some updates. It's a good choice for cinephiles, but casual moviegoers might find it less comfortable.
The seats were quite comfortable, the stage was fully visible, and the room temperature was adequate.
Wonderful experience watching Metropolis today, pianist needs huge credit for relentlessly atmospheric score!

We had the pleasure of seeing Lawrence of Arabia on 70mm film at the NFT1 on Saturday night. I had forgotten what a great film this is; stunning direction and cinematography. The cinema was a bit over warm although as a fair amount of the action was set in the desert this may have been deliberate! .
Cannot fault any of the screens at the NFT. Screen one is the flagship in terms of size, presentation was magnificent for the three films I watched on it today.
5 stars .... has to be, it's the BFI. Superb range of films, festivals, seminars and events. I was there for an Inside No 9 Q&A with Steve Pemberton and Reece Sheersmith. Entertaining and insightful.
