   Huge thanks to Emma on reception & Ali, the vet who assisted me with a difficult appointment recently. Their care and compassion was second to none, Emma's while dealing with me at an emotional time and Ali's, while dealing with the dog and me at an emotional time. A credit to the practice. Thank you both.

   Not happy at all. My dog hates travelling in the car but needed an x-ray on his leg, so when my mother called to make a booking she specifically asked if we could book a consultation and X-ray on the same day to avoid stress. They said yes and booked us in after the weekend. On arrival we were made to wait 45 minutes then the owner and head vet, (Graham Shepherd) looked at our dog Ted and said he needs an X-ray but can’t fit him in today! To which I replied the receptionist said we could X-ray today and he said no they said they would try! ( blatant lie ) And when we walked out to book in for tomorrow he said to the receptionist that WE made a mistake and misheard the receptionist! At this point I’d had enough of the lies so I said we will pay you what we owe you and now you have lost out on all our business of 9 dogs. To be honest we have been a customer of theirs for over 40 years and since Malcom Charnock left it’s never felt the same loving environment! Would not recommend at all!

   Despite my parent’s dog being registered locally with another veterinary practice and me ringing during their opening hours expressing concern that the dog needed to be seen urgently, I was declined an appointment. I was left ringing round and Shepherd’s Vets came to the rescue with an Out of Hours appointment at home to sadly put to sleep their dog. The visiting vet and nurse were compassionate and caring and I can’t thank them enough for their support during what was a difficult and heartbreaking position. The only vets locally to do home visits and I will transferring my cats to their care to ensure I don’t have a repeat experience of being declined an appointment in a pets hour of need!

   Couldn’t have asked for more compassion for my daughter’s family dog Rosie. She was the eldest of their three beloved dogs. My daughter in law and I took her as an emergency to the Vet. as Rosie was poorly and quite unresponsive. She was seen immediately by a Nurse. A vet came within minutes to explain that Rosie was in heart failure. He spoke to my son in law who was on holiday abroad with my daughter and their friends. Heartbreakingly for my daughter, her husband and my two grandsons, their beloved Rosie had to be euthanised. Thank you so much for your love and kindness. Forever grateful. Your compassion continued afterward too. My daughter and son in law could not cope with their holiday and flew ho e the next day to be with their other two dogs Such a wonderful Practice. Thank you again

   Received phone call one hour after home visit to put our old dog to sleep asking how we are going to pay. Shocking. Callous. The first consultation excellent, second consultation (different vet) was hard work, and I wasn't being listened to; we felt our dog was at end of life but this was dismissed; steered towards the bloods etc route. However, within 48 hours it was clear our boy was struggling and we had to make the heart breaking decision to let him go. Euthanasia was carried out efficiently.
