Nice home cooked food at a very reasonable price, I had the steak and chips. Comments here are just for chef to improve. Tasty steak, fat was a little underdone-chewy, so i ended up leaving that, maybe rest steak a little longer as blood running into the bluecheese off putting. i would season the chips too. love the blue cheese sauce, thick and creamy, perfect. Mushroom stroganoff excellent! Well cooked!, i will be back.

Worth visiting! The first time I went, I'd probably say the steak and stilton pie was the best I've ever had. Went a few months later and it was probably one of the worst, it was just pure stilton! If it can improve it consistency, it would become a go to for me!

Excellent food, fantastic quality, well cooked and good portion sizes - we were actually pretty blown away with the value of the meals (especially the lunch menu) The service was a little odd. We went up to the bar to see what drinks were on draught, but were told to sit down and give our orders at our table. We said “no problem we will, we just want to see what drinks are on draught” we were told again very firmly to sit down, that all the drinks were on the menu. Well there was a guest ale available at the bar that was not on the menu, so we asked the waitress whether it was a hoppy pale ale, she said “I have no idea, I don’t drink it” - fine, but can you not ask someone? Offer a taste? Google it? Since we weren’t allowed to stand at the bar I didn’t know its name so couldn’t look it up myself so just found her flippant reply unhelpful and weird. Would recommend a bit of customer service training. Considered a coffee after the meal but a double espresso was £5 which was absolutely laughable - decided against it. A pot of tea the size of my head was £2? Just such random drinks prices compared to the excellent value foods. Overall, I would go back as the food was fantastic and the location was nice for a walk around the nature reserves.

We visited as a group of 6 on a Saturday lunchtime. We called ahead to reserve a table and they very kindly did this for us. I would recommend this as during our time there I noticed it got rather busy. Dogs are allowed, as long as they are well behaved. The pub staff provided an at the table service which was convenient for us. One staff member was nice and friendly the other less so and seemed a bit miserable but it maybe because they were really busy. The wait times seemed a bit long but it’s usually understandable when it’s a large party the kitchen are cooking for. The food wasn’t too bad, for starters the Yorkshire pudding was a bit bland, maybe might have benefitted from an onion gravy instead of just a normal one. The mushroom soup was delicious however the garlic mushrooms had a sweet taste to them. For mains the steak pie a couple of people had was delicious however some of the other dishes weren’t quite as good. The steak was a bit tough and chewy and difficult to cut, the mushroom stroganoff was over powered with onions and the gammon steak was a bit dry. The other items accompanying the dishes were tasty and the home made chips were yummy. However the small issues we had wasn’t enough reason to warrant a complaint to the staff. Prices of drinks were quite expensive for example two glasses of wine and a lager came to just under £20. The food menu however offered two dishes for a set price. After we finished our main course we were sat around for quite some time before deciding against having dessert and paying at the bar and leaving. By then the pub was really busy and perhaps we had been forgotten about that’s what it felt like. The atmosphere of the pub was nice and friendly and can see it is popular with dog walkers. The food overall wasn’t too bad but I personally wouldn’t rush to go back there to give it another try.

First time visit, popped in on impulse for a quick Sunday meal. The reviews caught our eye and luckily they managed to squeeze us in between bookings. Have to say it was a lovely Sunday Lunch pretty of meat and veg for the two of us!... we'd defo return again. Busy carpark and tables on the way out, always a good sign.

It's been quite a few years since I visited this place but it won't be that long again! We braved the snow and it was well worth it. Food was delicious and the waiter was friendly and funny too. My only grumble and it's not specific to just here, is paying £14.00 for 4 glasses of pepsi. I highly recommend the garlic mushrooms.

A large group of us attended in January 2023. I wasn't overwhelmed by looking at the limited menu but wow, the food was incredible. This is not cheap belly filler from Wetherspoons, this is all fresh food, all of what I saw looked home made, chicken looked home battered etc. The 1 cask ale that was on there was well kept. All that at and it wasn't expensive, it was superior food at Wetherspoons prices. Keep this pub going please, we need more like this, and I want it open for the next time I want to go.

Food has always been very good and very pleasant staff but the afternoon tea was a bit too much to manage. The pork sandwich was very large and tasty but would have been nicer, in my opinion, if there had been apple sauce. The apple crumble was delicious, as was the scone with jam and cream. There were cheese and onion sandwiches and cheese pastries and the portions were very generous.

Just had our first meal here this evening and the food was amazing. Lovely clean place to eat with lovely friendly staff. Will definitely be calling again when we are in the area.
