Over the past year, I watched several men walk away before the Wakefield service collapsed — and it is painfully obvious why. Key female staff are patronising, controlling, and dismissive. They treat men’s experiences as if they are irrelevant, acting like they know better than the survivors themselves — even when those men have endured decades of abuse. Their arrogance, condescension, and disregard are staggering. I offered to engage constructively — completely ignored. After 25 years of domestic abuse, being treated this way by a service that claims to support survivors is shameful, unacceptable, and disgraceful. Men seeking help: be warned. This service does not listen, does not respect you, and actively fails those it claims to protect. Wakefield service is broken. It’s long overdue for serious reflection, accountability, and meaningful change.
