Totally sublime experience. Truely idyllic location. Lovely, helpful staff. Immaculate and beautifully built cottages. All surrounded by wonderful rolling Suffolk countryside and quant villages. Thoroughly recommend. Rob Guildford

We stayed at the Wilderness Reserve and overall had a lovely time. The location is beautiful — the lake, the boat, and all the bits you need for a self-catering stay are well thought out. It’s peaceful and picturesque, and you can tell they’ve put care into the setting. That said, for the price, a few details missed the mark. The bedding wasn’t particularly luxurious, and we had to ask for a TV, which felt odd at this level. Some of the finishes leaned more “shabby” than “chic,” and while charming in parts, it could do with a little polish. A minibar or room service option would also make a big difference — you shouldn’t have to book a private chef just to have something simple. Overall, it’s a beautiful place, but I expected a touch more finesse given the cost.

It was so lovely working with the wilderness team recently on a wedding for Paige and Sam. The team could not have been more helpful to not only my couple but to us as suppliers. Often it really is a sign of a good team by how they treat you behind the scenes. The estate is gorgeous, with the main Sibton Manor and Clockhouse truly stunning. Guests stayed in many of the locations on site which all were decorated so individual and full of character. Cannot wait to head back here!

Stunning setting - but lacking the luxury touch they promise We booked Wilderness for my 30th birthday after years of admiring their celebration-focused marketing. At nearly £2,000 per night, it’s definitely a bit of a splurge. We stayed in Yelm Cottage, which was beautifully designed and perfectly equipped for four people, with fun things like a hot tub, sauna, SUP board, and boat. That said, for a luxury venue, several small details missed the mark and the customer service is nowhere near the level I expected. While they offer food and spa packages, the balance between self-catered and catered wasn’t well handled. We ordered a barbecue package, but no condiments were included—when we asked for ketchup and mustard, it took 50 minutes to get a response, only to be told the kitchen could not provide those items. We had to drive 40 minutes to get some ourselves, and even basics like tin foil weren’t supplied. The kitchen equipment is also quite run down and very very limited (you couldn’t cook a whole family meal in there yourself). While gorgeous, some of the property details missed the mark as well. The bikes provided, for example, are pretty but so not function at all and couldn’t be safely ridden 10 feet let alone around the estate. Given it’s on the water, I think some water safety items should be provided and shown on arrival. There’s also less privacy than you think, as maintenance staff stop by regularly and enter the property without warning. There were also some communication gaps and lack of attention to detail on that front. Our printed itinerary had the wrong cottage name and details on it, and although we’d mentioned it was a birthday trip several times, the occasion wasn’t acknowledged—which felt like a missed opportunity for a place that promotes itself as a celebration destination. Most remote properties provide some sort of welcome pack or local guide to help guests make the most of the area, but we received nothing like that. We didn’t even realise there was a café on a nearby sister estate until the final day, which was frustrating given how limited options are in the area. While the massages were fantastic (and the therapists super lovely), the facials felt underwhelming—more like a slow cleanse than a treatment. The setting is undeniably beautiful, and the booking team was excellent in the lead-up, but the on-site experience didn’t quite live up to expectations given the price point and marketing. With a little more care and communication, it could be something truly special.

Stump is a fairytale cottage in beautiful countryside. The house was well equipped and very comfortable, perfect for a relaxing break. There was a walking trail more or less round the whole estate which was very quiet in the autumn. The Reserve staff were all helpful and friendly. It is expensive but definitely worth a visit.

An experience second to none. This expansive space of beautiful landscape is breathtaking. The hospitality rooms and houses have equilibrium in equal measure. the place to go.

Hosted a party at the Walled Garden and Garden Cottage properties. The estate is absolutely stunning. We found the properties to be high quality and well appointed. The food (forest dining + one catered dinner) were excellent. The surrounding landscape made for relaxing walks and cycles. We also took a dip in the lake, which was a memorable experience thanks to the Ranger who guided us through it and cooked for us afterwards. The staff were extremely attentive and efficient. I would highly recommend for a special holiday or event.

Where do I start with this place? We came for a wedding and from our arrival to leaving, every touch was perfect. The properties are stunning, cosy and have everything you need for your stay. The activities are unique, and I lived the sunken pool! Staff were brilliant, they provided some great vegan options when requested. I'd love to come back!
