   I experienced unbelievably poor service at the Poundland store in Kings Heath today (19/08/2025, around 4 pm). Upon reaching the till with my items, a staff member point-blank refused to scan them. I was explicitly told I had to use the self-checkout. Since when did paying customers become unpaid employees? My money, which contributes to the wages of the staff who couldn't be bothered to do their job, is apparently not enough. I now have to provide the labor, too. There is no law in England that states a company can refuse to serve a paying customer. This is a pure example of corporate cost-cutting being forced onto the public, degrading the shopping experience, coming in contradiction with the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Equality Act 2010. A reputable company should offer service, not enforce self-service. Avoid this store if you expect any actual customer service. I will be taking my custom elsewhere and formally complaining to head office. An utter disgrace.

   This morning, l went to the store with my daughter and was greeted by a lovely lady named lSHA with a big warm smile. We managed to find all the things we needed and when we went to the self checkout lsha was there to help us. Keep up the great customer service. Keep smiling and shining ISHA.

   Like their prices. It's ok for some items but I wouldn't go there for everything. Staff can be unhelpful at times providing you can find one except at the tills. Once every 2 months to top up my DIY items like super glue, etc.

   Usually nice place to get decorations and party things...evn snacks ..but I've had a bad experience with my daughter buying nail polish...too dry so useless...the pot I bought the base started peeling after a few uses...the stationary pencil cases the zips come off...the clothes start getting chicken dots in 1 wash...
