Pathetic Customer Service Experience at Poundland Selly Oak I recently had a distressing experience with the customer service at Poundland in Selly Oak. Here’s what happened: I purchased a bowl for £1 from the Poundland store in Dudley. However, upon reviewing my receipt later, I noticed that I had been charged £1.25 without my knowledge. Since I live in Selly Oak, I decided to visit the Poundland store there to address the issue. When I explained the situation to the cashier, she called the manager for assistance. Unfortunately, the manager was extremely unhelpful and rude. She dismissively remarked, "It's just 25 pence, why do you want to speak about it?" When I mentioned that I was not informed of the price discrepancy, she retorted, "It's your fault; you should have checked the receipt there itself." I then requested to return the product, but she refused, stating, "That is a different store. This is my store. If you have any issues with my store, only I can assist you. If not, you have to go to Dudley again and speak about this issue." Explaining that I do not frequently go to Dudley and asking for assistance as both stores belong to the same company, she curtly responded, "It's not the same store. This is my store and that is a different store." When I expressed that my issue was unresolved, she rudely said, "I know what I'm doing here. I know my job very well. If you want, you can complain about me. Yes, my name is Saira. Go and complain about me." (The manager name is SAIRA) I pointed out that this was not the right way for a manager to speak, to which she replied, "You go talk to customer service or Poundland. Complain about me. I know what I'm doing." As I was leaving and said thank you, she didn’t even make eye contact or respond. Before I walked away, she shouted, "Next customer," despite there being no one else in line. Because she was not assisting customer she came up to talk to me. I felt humiliated and disrespected by her behavior and her lack of basic human decency. I need an explanation for her behavior towards me. How can someone with such a disrespectful attitude handle customer queries? This incident has left me deeply disappointed in Poundland’s customer service standards. I have attached the product and receipt below.

Large store, took over the old Wilko. Plenty of space and plenty of choice including clothes, food and household. Plenty of parking right outside and good wheel chair access.

I went to this store recently on the 28th of February. It came to my attention the wotsits I bought has been out of date from 3rd February. Honestly that ruined my expectations. I thought shops check their store and not sell out of date crisp. From now onwards guys please check the expiry date.

I visited the store Tuesday evening and was served by a lad called Dan. He was in the middle of doing something as I entered the counter, his back to me not knowing I was there. He put down what he was doing and I told him to ‘carry on no rush’. He then responded ‘customer always comes first’ of which I thought was really nice - what a kind interaction.

Poundland is a one stop for household items. There are several items ranging from cookwares, dishes to cleaning and maintenance items. There are also sections for skincare products and bodycare products. Groceries and food provisions are also not left out. There is also a number of items capped at £1 and it is essentially a pocket friendly place to shop.
