I came here during cherry blossom season. This could be a place in Yorkshire truly worth visiting for healing. There are two paths, each lined with two rows of tall cherry blossom trees. The sunlight, the cool breeze, and the petals drifting in the air make it a masterpiece.

The Stray is a wonderful resource all year round whether you want a leisurely stroll, a picnic or a football match! It’s lovely to see so many people enjoying the space throughout the seasons. We love the crocuses and daffodils, then the cherry blossom in May, and the horse chestnut blossoms later on. Both kids learned to ride a bike here (though they’re not allowed on the paths) and we have very happy memories of playing together over the years :-)

One of the most breathtaking places I have ever visited! The Stray is truly magical, especially in spring when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Walking under the canopies of pink blossoms feels like stepping into a fairytale — it’s simply unforgettable. The open green fields are immaculately kept, offering the perfect space for peaceful walks, photography, or just lying back and admiring the scenery. The atmosphere is vibrant yet calming, with the gentle breeze carrying the scent of flowers and the sight of endless blossoms dancing in the air. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to pause, reflect, and appreciate the simple beauty of nature. Street parking is convenient, and being open 24 hours means you can enjoy it at sunrise, sunset, or any time in between. A must-visit if you are in Harrogate — it’s pure magic in every step!

Visited The Stray in Harrogate this spring just few minutes from where I reside, and it was absolutely magical. I never imagined it to be so magical when everyone told me I should wait for the cherry blossoms to bloom when I moved here in Jan this year. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, creating a stunning pink canopy that stretched for what felt like miles. It honestly looked like something out of a fairytale – perfect for a peaceful walk or snapping some photos. There were so many tourists and visitors who spend their day here on picnic and family gathering this spring ! The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, with families, couples, and dog walkers all out enjoying the sunshine and blossoms. You can really feel the sense of community here. It’s amazing how such a wide, open space can feel both lively and tranquil at the same time. Being right in the middle of town, it’s the perfect place to take a break, grab a coffee nearby, and just enjoy the beauty of nature. If you’re in Harrogate during blossom season, The Stray is an absolute must-see. It’s absolutely magical !!!

The Stray is a huge area of open land in Harrogate, but at this time of year most people are visiting one particular section of it which is the avenues of blossom trees. It was very dull and overcast yesterday morning when I visited but there were lots of visitors, all trying for the perfect photos. The trees really are spectacular; the majority are well-established mature trees but there seems to be a program of planting as I spotted a couple of areas with fair young trees. I’m so pleased that I was able to see them in full bloom, even if it wasn’t ideal conditions for photos.

The green space is lovely but disappointed that all the double yellow lines have appeared since our last visit. this makes parking a problem. The grass is a lovely place for a picnick but now it's not as convenient if you have to carry everything for miles.

I love the idea of having a large green area in the middle of town. Had a nice walk there and definitely will be back in the summer. Love the cherry blossoms. Clean, everyone will have a space for their activity.

Went on the Easter weekend, it’s so pretty!! Some of the cherry blossoms haven’t bloomed yet, would be perfect in a week time I think :)

A lovely, large green area, right in the middle of Harrogate. The grass can be a bit wet in places, especially after rain but it has recovered well from the damage done during the World road cycling championship three years ago. Its a nice place for a picnic, or there are several restaurants, cafes and bars on West Park and Montpellier with good views onto The Stray. The crocuses are gorgeous in spring and the Christmas lights cheerful in the winter.
