We ate here on a Saturday afternoon recently. We had the sharing platter for 2 as we wanted to try a selection of what was on offer. Our favourite was the pulled pork, flavourful and moist along with a very good steak topped fries, great taste to the steak. We had a taste of the burger and was very impressed, I’d go for this next time and the mustard sauce was lovely. Lots of complementary sauces so you can adjust the flavours, add a bit of spice or a different dipping sauce. Had a great chat with the owner, love the concept. Great partnership with the bar a couple of doors up and the grand central that was recommended went very well. A quiet day when we went in and sure the atmosphere would be better if a little busier. Enjoyed our meal.

Genuinely really good food. Got the sharing platter for 2 people for £27. Jambalaya, pulled pork, gumbo and steak loaded fries. Nice, friendly service, would definitely go back

Excellent independent restaurant in the City centre. The food, service and atmosphere are superb. Visited on a Saturday lunch time, all 4 of us really enjoyed our meals. 3 burgers with pulled pork and a jambalaya. The burgers with pulled pork were the best we have ever had and the jambalaya was really tasty and full of chicken and smoked sausage. Its BYOB and they also have a drinks menu in collaboration with Providence Gin next door, you order and they will pop out and get them for you. I would recommend a visit in a heartbeat and we will definitely be visiting again and again.

Cracking little place, I always sniff out the small businessess rather than the multi chain guys, and this place is brilliant. Yes there were a few little issues but hey that's life. All 5 of us really enjoyed our lunch. the food, service and the whole feel of the place was great. Give these guy's a go and help small independent restaurants. Good luck for the future I will definitely be back.

My wife always liked this place from when they were on Chester Market. Went there this afternoon and had a variety of dishes. They were all delicious. The staff were attentive and helpful. We're looking forward to coming again and bringing our toddler who would love the dedicated kids corner. Gator Pit is definitely worth a visit.

What a great find, situated at the top of Watergate street Chester, my daughter and I were lucky enough to find a table on a busy lunchtime. The menu is small but varied, and is great value, I opted for the double stack burger, this was served in a delicious soft brioche bun, with baby gem lettuce and fresh tomato, and a portion of Cajun fries, my daughter opted for the pulled pork and rice, I can honestly say it was the best pulled pork I’ve ever tasted, like butter it just melted in the mouth, A great atmosphere was provided with just the background music and the gentle buzz of appreciation when other diners were tucking in. Definitely da go to place to eat for us

We were so pleased we stopped here to eat as the food it brilliant. It’s a great menu which we would genuinely eat anything from and nice to see something different. Flavours in the gumbo were beautiful and I loved the fact you can heat it up with various different sauces. Our daughter had the ribs and chips and they knocked spots off any previous incarnations of the same. Chips really were good, we will get our own next time. Lovely, friendly guy running the restaurant, he does it all himself and he’s doing a great job. We will be back!
