Booked a table for the Bath Theatre Royal 13 December 5.15pm. The booking was made on 9th November 2025. This was a birthday celebration before going to watch a pantomime at 7pm We turned up at 5.10pm. The waitress informed us they didn’t have a table for us, even though we booked. They could not honour the booking. They had a backlog and couldn’t seat us! After complaining she said we could wait 30mins and they might be able to do something. This was not an option as we had the pantomime. I asked for the manager to call the Southgate branch and ask if they could find a table. This was our only option but meant ordering and eating within 45mins. This meant the birthday meal was rushed and not a pleasant experience. Two of the pizza’s were below expected standards. I sent one back for cooking more due to lack of time. The only positive was our server was very friendly and helpful. Appalling customer service to allow guests to turn up and be told cannot honour a booking. It seems visiting Pizza express has become such a gamble. Will it be ok? Often, sadly, it is not.

If you are in a race then this is the place to be! Ordered drinks and food, and received both courses in less than 20 minutes.. and that includes sending the first course back as it was barely warm! A leisurely meal it was not!!!! My tip..... Go to the other Pizza express in Bath where we had a fab meal the other night which was both hot and leisurely.

We were very lucky to get what appeared to be the last free table in Bath this evening. Andrea was our server and she was lovely. So helpful and friendly, accommodating too. We both ordered Romano pizzas as crispier and thinner sounded perfect. They were definitely thinner - and delicious - but unfortunately not crispier, just floppier. Was a bit difficult for daughter (only uses one hand) to eat, but she enjoyed the lovely flavours of her American. I had the BBQ brisket, very tasty. Ended with a Blondie for her and a great cup of tea for me. A pleasant evening. Lovely staff.

Picked up a too good to go order. Staff were very pleasant and nice. Asked if I had any allergies. Got a nice selection as well. Bruschetta, a cheesy garlic bread and this decadent slice of honeycomb caramel cream cheesecake! Excellent! Will be by again!!

Like Pizza Express. Any excuse for a fiorentina pizza. I appreciate we are in the midst of a cost of living crisis but it appears that Wagon Wheels are not the only things that are shrinking with time... Will be able to fit the entire pizza on a side plate before long. That said, it was still delicious! Had the biscotti cheesecake for afters. Entire bill came to £90 for three of us. No alcohol

Don't sit downstairs. Others from this chain don't even seat customers downstairs, as of the bad atmosphere. It felt like a cave. There was plenty of space upstairs this New Years Eve. None of the servers seemed to know about communication - or even checking with the chef for dietary requirements. Twice we asked both of our servers about if dishes were gluten free and they both assumed they were. Credit to the chefs, the order was quick to prepare and arrive (unlike other Pizza Expresses). But the system, precautions and just the lack of training and procedures, resulted in us landing an unwanted debate with some random waitress about a Gluten Free person on our table being fed Gluten. Lucky they weren't extremely allergic, but not even the manager or original server came to apologize to us in our dark basement table - and (I know it might be to cover themselves) no one seemed willing to properly except or change mistakes for the future and the whole experience was just frustrating and sickening. They kept messing up the bill at the end (not to mention the infuriating Pizza Express App), albeit it did result in us obtaining a bigger refund than perhaps otherwise intended. Overall, I felt sorry for the girl that got dobbed in to deal with us - and ultimately it is the same in many places. Undertrained (underpaid) staff just mess up, although the blatant lying of servers when questioned about taken an allergen order and unwillingness to change, compelled us to make this review.

Eliza was amazing! She seemed run off her feet but at no point wasn’t smiling, was always polite and super helpful. She was great. Our food was also probably the best PE I’ve had. We had minimal wait as the team was punctual with taking our order and then getting food and drinks back to us. Thanks to the team for an awesome wrap up to our date night!

First time eating in a Pizza Express. Good experience and good food. The lady who received us wasn’t the most friendly but the waiter Joseph was nice and friendly all the time and made a difference to our dinner. Ordered 2 classic pizzas which were of good size, calamari as starter that was delicious and around 8pieces so I thought it was good too. The dessert was ok. I used a student discount so all in all a good experience!

Pizza express is always a winner, although this one is let down by a few small details. When we arrived, we were initially told we didn't have a table, and after a little eye rolling were given a table in the cellar. The cellar is quaint, but didn't smell particularly great. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful, which was a welcome change from the welcome we'd received from the maitre d'. When the food arrived, the maitre d' served some of it and a member of the party who is celiac asked to confirm if her pasta was gluten free, but she was ignored. I'm sure the maitre d' simply failed to hear her (although we were the only ones in the room so it wasn't noisy) and can only assume she felt rushed and busy. Nevertheless, I was pleased this was our final interaction with her. I had the jackfruit pepperoni and cheesy dough balls and both were excellent, especially as veggie pepperoni is hard to come by on pizza. We had the house wine, and I would certainly recommend trying another bottle (which are only a pound or two more) as whilst it was drinkable it certainly wasn't the greatest. For 7 of us, with half having a starter, all having mains, and half having alcoholic drinks, the bill came to 200 GBP including tip. I'll certainly be back but will be hoping that the maitre d' is under less pressure, and will request a table that isn't in the cellar.
