Really friendly staff, the food was all cooked fresh. We had a selection from haggis to kebab to pasta and it was all very tasty.
Got a takeaway from these guys on Friday. Ordered prawns from there 'catch of the day' section, the prawns seemed straight out the freezer, batter and especially prawns were overcooked and to top it all off , not only were they rubbery and tasteless but also still had the poop chute in them. That along with my overcooked cheese in burger I was out of pocket by almost £15. Very disappointed, this was my first time ordering from this chippy, it'll definitely be the last.
Bought a pizza primeverea with garlic oil which was brilliant, a month or so ago, and then again tonight. No rocket, no garlic oil and no cherry tomatoes on tonight's. Really poor tonight. Don't know why there is such a contrast in what I ordered.
Had a few takeaways from Benes. But todays was disappointing. Ordered by phone a large doner kebab with salad and sauces. After getting home, the doner had turned into a mixed doner/chicken, without sauce. Some of Doner meat was a bit tough, the rest, despite being wrapped in tin foil was look warm and not moist, so disappointing. Not the best takeaway, never enjoyed it. Chicken, tried one bit, the chicken along with the remains of the doner meat ended up in the bucket Maybe should have taken it back up, but not worth the time driving back. Not sure if I'll order again from Benes for while. Might try another local Takeway next time
Fish cooked to order. All lovely and hot staff very nice. Sadly the fish could have been fresher. But will be back
Margareta pizza with extra pepperoni. .. £8.80 including a 50p surcharge for ordering on line. If I had opened the box there id would have complained. I ordered "classic Margherita Pizza Tomato Base, Fior Di Latte, Mozarella, Fresh Basil Leaf, Drizzled Off Extra Olive" and extra pepperoni Disappointed..... comfortable fit inside a 12" box.. id say it was just about 11". No basil or drizzled olive oil . Light on cheese and tomato .. As it was when I got home I just ended up scoffing it as I was really hungry.. maybe that all the cheese your going to get for the money. Next time id prob order at the shop to make shure I am getting the right thing . Folks look in the box before you leave the shop
Has to be the best Carryout establishment in East Lothian, no matter what shop you visit the quality is amazing, everything is cooked fresh from fresh fish & chips to pizzas & kebabs. I would highly recommend Bene's to anyone. I am surprised to see any negative comments, we travel from Haddington & when home it's still hot & fresh. not once have we had a bad meal.
Unfortunately collection order was incorrect missing chips and a smaller pizza than described. Shop was busy and when phoned to advise of error, the staff offered £2 off next order but didn't take any details so chances of getting this I think is slim. Very little parking available outside of shop as its located on the main street, the fish was qell cooked and tasty on a plus not.
This is a lovely place to eat. Order outside at the door or phone them. Vast menu of homemade Italian food. I bought a spicy chicken pizza (photos enclosed) and it tasted delicious. Main door to the place with wide pavement which is good for wheel chair users. Great views from the door to the place over the water (photos enclosed) definitely worth a visit. There is a wee car parking place right at the waterfront just up from the takeaway where you can enjoy your meal. It also has bins. It has a metal entrance frame to the car park with a 2.1 metre height.
