We visited the Scallops Tail tonight as we had seen that they had won an award and were interested in trying it out. As someone who has worked in customer facing environments before, I have to say, the service was impeccable. The food is cooked from fresh and in view of the counter, so you can see that it is freshly made and for those who care, you can see how it’s made. The food was out of this world. The chips were insane, and the sausage was wonderful. A special batter I was made aware. Very impressed. As with anything, the cost matters, but regardless of posting upwards of Β£40, I really can’t complain. Everyone has their own threshold of pricing for things, and that’s okay. For me, I was happy to pay that because I felt the service and quality were worth it. Would I do it every weekend? No, but I don’t eat takeout every week, so for a treat, it was worth it. It certainly has become the benchmark for me. Will be some effort to out-do these people. Overall really impressed. Hope to hear more of more success from this place.

Absolutely huge portions and delicious food. Definitely the best restaurant in Bearsden. The creamed corn with the steak is so good and the scallops were gorgeous too. Compliments to the chef as every dish was seasoned and the sauces were delicious. Very good value. Will be back soon.

We had a beautiful meal on Saturday evening the food was great and the service was excellent the two waitresses were so helpful and the β€œbring your own bottle β€œ idea is superb. However later that night the smell of chip pan fat from our clothes was unbearable ..I’m not sure if this problem could be solved but it would possibly keep us from returning...solve the problem and they have a top restaurant.

Nice place, good service however some points of improvement. Starter of scallops were nice, mains we both got surf and turf. I asked for medium rare and got completely well done, my partner also asked for medium rare and was perfect. My steak was very thin in comparison to my partners which was more than double the size, I don't know how the cuts were so different but mine was chewy and disappointing. Everything else on the plate was lovely. I would suggest anyone thinking of going here not to wear nice clothes as you will go home and stink of a chip shop. I wore a brand new jacket which had to be put in the wash with all my other clothes which had such a strong smell stuck to them. The deal we got for starter and main for Β£35 was good however if we never had this deal I think this place would be very over priced.

We looked forward to going here but upon arriving the place was very humid, apparently the air con was broken which was understandable but it made our experience very uncomfortable. We ordered a seafood platter of which all consisted of fried foods. There was fried calamari, scampi, fish cake, fried fish and lots of bread with more bread on the side. There was a squid ink sauce but was not too keen on this. Had mussels in a thai curry sauce, think the flavours did not quite match up. Usually we have mussels with a tomato sauce or white wine sauce. Ordered an orange lemonade for about Β£7 as apparently they charge you separately. Think the best part was the chips, it was cooked really well. Maybe the fish and chips are more popular here than everything else, but overall there was too much fried food, felt very bloated rather than full, hair and clothes stank afterwards. If the fish was pan fried in the platter and included mussels within I think this would be much better. Staff were lovely though.

I tried Scallop's Tale for the first time yesterday and I can confidently say that it is the best fish and chips I have ever had in Glasgow. I had the food delivered in and the first thing I noticed was the quality of the packaging. It screams fine dining whilst still being able to reveal itself as a humble chippy that anyone can order on a Friday night. You can instantly tell that they have spent a lot of time and effort into this. Solidifying that this establishment is here to stay and is able to compete and win against only the most revered competitors in Glasgow. Upon opening my fish supper the first thing I noticed was the portion size of the fish, especially in these times, they did not stiff the customer on mediocre food portions which I adored! The fish itself had a beautiful light batter, with a crispy and flaky exterior, whilst still impressively managing to maintain that gorgeous soft and tender interior throughout the fish. Despite being such an extremely generous portion, it seems they have managed to perfect their frying technique to cook the fish, ensuring there are no uneven parts and that every bite is heavenly. The next thing I noticed were the various sides which the fish supper itself had come with. The chips themselves were exactly what I look for in a chippy, they have that distinct soft texture and fluffiness to them, whilst still maintaining a crispy outside. The most memorable moment for me personally, when indulging in the chips and most delightful homemade smushed pees, was the homemade tartar sauce. The tartar sauce is something I expect out of only the most top quality and awards winning fish and chips restaurants. It was something I finished completely and found myself returning to my roots as a child, scraping the bottom of the tub with my fingers. Overall Scallop's Tale is something of a diamond in the rough. The market is very competitive and saturated, however this establishment very impressively still manages to stand out despite these challenges and whatever their technique is or what they are trying to achieve, it seems to be working and I am here for it. Thank you Scallop's Tale.

What else can you order but a fish supper when you try a posh fish n chip shop. Generous portions , well presented and fish was so soft it breaks apart as soon as you cut into I love a posh chippy and this one did not disappoint

My wife and I were here on opening night and it was almost perfect! The food was delicious and nice-sized portions too. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and you can see the owner has an eye for detail. Just a wee few things that can be improved to make this restaurant top-notch. 1) It was opening night so a few "teething" problems which is very forgiveable obviously. Just a little bit too long to wait for our orders probably because of the takeaway orders downstairs. 2) The liquor licence is coming I believe, which will help as the soft drinks option is not something which could be sustained I reckon! 3) The heat upstairs from the fryers downstairs is quite unbearable as I had to take my jumper off. A few customers mentioned this also. Perhaps fans or an extraction system downstairs could k Keep the heat from rising to the restaurant part! 4) The 3 girls and male host were very friendly and couldn't be any nicer...no complaint there! All in all a lovely evening and this can be improved to make this a favourite fish restaurant in the area. We will be back. We loved it and we both wish the restaurant well. May it go from strength to strength.
