   Had booked a table for 7.15 on Friday 12th December for a family meal .I ordered lamb and was asked would I like potatoes i said yes when my meal arrived it was potatoe wedges not what i thought would arrive started to eat my meal to discover stone cold in middle. Told waiter he took it back to kitchen 10 min later meal arrived back no apology nor did he return to ask how the replacement meal was .my wife's gluten free carbonara was taste less .won't be back .    Highly recommended Italian restaurant! True Italian flavours and a cosy place just a few minutes away from the beach in Gullane just off Edinburgh. Delicious food! We went for a mix of starters/sides and desserts there, but we’ll definitely be back for mains.

   We come to Gullane every year for the Scottish Open Golf, from our home in The Lakes, and always look forward to a return visit to The Main Course and see the familiar friendly faces of the wonderful staff...and of course, the food. The quality is always top notch, the potions perfectly sized and the flavour delivery exceptional. In my photos, you'll see our shared starters....lots of crispy calamari and to balance that, perfect bruschetta. We then had the calzone pizza and the knock out beef ravioli in a sage sauce. A request for a simple side garden salad, not on the menu, was no problem at all. Negroni cocktails kicked things off, and a bottle of Soave Superiore Classico for under £30 (a great price for this) was enjoyed throughout the meal, ending with their lovely tiramisu. Well done to all the chefs, staff and the owners at The Main Course. You have a great place. Many thanks for looking after us. See you next time.

   Just been here for my dinner and I thought I would give it a very well deserved 5 star. Despite arriving 45 mins early and not having actually finished my booking request they still seated us straight away. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and the staff were all friendly and attentive. Star of the show was the pizza. I've tried many pizza places in Scotland and this is up there with one of the best. Perfectly cooked, nice bit char, good sauce to cheese ratio. Just phenomenal. My companions were all very happy with their meal too. Highly recommend. And I'll definitely be back if I'm in the area.

   Can't say I was overly impressed with The Main Course. The pizza we received was wet with greece and the cheese just slide off considering we waited half an hour for our mains I expected them to be cooked correctly. Overly priced but I understand its fine dining. It's fair to say we won't be back which is a shame I had high expectations especially given the prices

   This place is up there as one of, if not the, favourite restaurants of ours at the minute. It's pretty much faultless, in terms of price, service and the food. Such a shame its an hour away from home, as otherwise would visit more often. The service is 5*, A1, top notch.

   Fantastic Italian Spot in Gullane! My mother and I spent two nights in the Gullane and we needed a place to eat dinner since our hotel had been booked up for that night. We found the main course by looking online for restaurants near us. There weren’t that many options since we didn’t want to drive back into the city so we thought this would do. We booked a table and got seated very quickly considering we were literally the only customers in the restaurant. All of the food was great and our drinks were amazing. I tried Irn Bru for the first time and it tasted very similar to orange baby aspirin but… in like a good way. A great restaurant if you want some good Italian food in Scotland.
