blown away with the standard, soul and skill of this tatoo artist. Felix stood out to us on their instagram page not just because of the incredible art designs but the ethics and inclusivity included on the page. Booking was incredibly easy, fast resonses and everything was so smooth. the tattoo is beyond amazing and it took just over two hours, im blown away. were bith in awe.

Felix did an absolutely amazing job, perfectly captivating my ideas into one crazy fun tattoo. As a queer neurodiverse person with anxiety issues finding the right studio was really important to me and Painted Fern were just perfect, they even had spare fidgets if you forgot to bring your own. Felix is a lovely person to talk to and made me feel safe and comfortable throughout the entire process. Highly recommended.

Had a tattoo with Felix 19/03/25. The studio is welcoming, clean, wonderfully decorated, and pleasantly quiet, even with the building works outside when I was there. Felix himself was so accommodating. He sent me the design the day before, and very promptly, and graciously, made the adjustment I requested. On the day, I felt completely able to ask for breaks or adjustments should I need them, something which is really important in a tattoo artist, and there was a great balance of chat and comfortable silence (also very important, imo!) They also were very patient with my embarrassing leg twitches, which was so reassuring. The overall experience was lovely, I already have another tattoo booked with Felix (and am eyeing more designs of his), but it certainly seems like every artist there has beautiful work, it'll be difficult not to try and book something with everyone. ☺️

Alex did the koi as a cover up. It was about 2 years ago that I first got work done by them and they remembered what I wanted. The cover up utterly blew my mind and I couldn't be happier. Laura did the geometric fox - I fell in love with the drawings when they were initially posted on Instagram and even my mother likes it and she hates tattoos! Very professional, relaxing and calm atmosphere, accommodating of my physical disabilities and an all around excellent experience each time I've been. Now I'm hoping to get something from Tanya!

This is a must visit for queers! Also anyone who has been too scared and uncomfortable to enter a regular studio. The space is light and welcoming with parking nearby. There is a pins and sticker gift shop in the waiting space along with snacks and comfy chairs. Tea/coffee and cold drinks were offered throughout the day. There is a spacious toilet for customers to use also. Felix provided me with a calm and gentle experience. Their line work is stunning and I can't wait for my tattoos to heal. Tanya was tattooing another client and it looked amazing too. They also host guest artists so I am convinced there is an artist for every style there. I felt so safe and comfortable in this queer friendly place and I'm so happy with my pieces. I will definitely be back for more :D

Had a tattoo done with Felix after he came highly recommended from multiple friends. He ran with my idea and the mock-up drawing he sent was precisely what I wanted; he guided me through every detail to make sure he had the perfect understanding of how I wanted the final outcome to look. Healed perfectly and is now my favourite tattoo I have. Every part about the process instilled trust in both Felix and Painted Fern as an environment - the studio was extremely clean and hygienic, staff were incredibly friendly and it was refreshing to see how much care was put in to make sure the experience was as accommodating to LGBT+, disabled and neurodiverse customers, and I think that authentic care is what makes the folks at Painted Fern so special. Cannot praise my experience with them highly enough, and as mentioned I cannot count how many times I have have complimented a friends tattoo only to have them say they had it done at Painted Fern and that they had similarly positive experiences. Will definitely be booking in again!

THE MOST queer/trans/neurodivergent friendly tattoo studio in the region, Felix, holly, and Billy are always smiling and happy to fulfill any insane request you have, and pull out all the stops to make your visit as accessible and painless as possible. it is lacking in the overwhelming presence so many studios are plagued by. there are snacks and fidgets on hand, and hot and cold drinks available for clients at all times. Its the only studio I ever plan on going to for the rest of my time in this part of the country (however long that is). cannot recommend enough. if I could rate this 8 stars I would.

Always have such a wonderful experience with Felix and the crew. They make you feel incredibly welcome and safe and the new space is absolutely amazing, they've thought of everything to make the experience special. Felix's art is stunning and I get so many comments on my tattoos by them. Their flash is beautiful and imaginative and their custom work is just as stunning. Looking forward to many more visits.

My first time at the new space and it was really wonderful. It's light, airy and calming. I love the emphasis on accessibility for all and the staff are all really so welcoming. Felix did my tattoo and they have a real talent. They were also really accommodating to my needs. Thank you!
