We booked some tickets online and were not disappointed with the trip. We went from Hampton court landing stage to Richmond on Thames via Teddington lock. It’s fantastic what you can see from the water that one would otherwise miss out on. And there are toilets on board and snacks and hot and cold drinks served. A really enjoyable experience. We had a trip on the Princess Freda a survivor of the evacuation of Dunkirk solidly built in 1928.

A hidden gem and more that just a great exerience...a superb way to travel to London when you have time to unwind. Thoroughly recommend this trip, especially if you've been to Hampton Court Palace and want to return to London.

What to do on an extremely hot, very sunny, and incredibly humid Sunday? We decided to catch the public boat from Hampton Court to Richmond. Just one of many trips and locations. We were not disappointed! Oh, cruising along on the top deck, the breeze was just perfect. We could forget about the humidity for an hour and a half! Highly recommend a trip, it was so different to anything else. Be mindful, the directions to the landing stage are excellent, but there's a couple of different company's boarding points - make sure you read the signs properly. Thames River Boats is practically parallel to the Palace, and it has a small hut. The vessel was bang on time. No problems getting en board and very safe. Once seated, our captain gave a short but obviously essential safety talk. Boring.. not! Our captain was absolutely hysterical! Thankfully, there wasn't much commentary, but when he did, it was so funny! Essential: Bar (reasonably priced) and toilets below deck, albeit a different flushing system. The 90 minutes flew by. Extremely relaxing, plenty to see and going through the lock at Teddington was interesting. We took a one way trip only to Richmond. Drop off point is just before the main, traffic bridge, not by the White Swan pub (which I assumed it would). All of a 5 minute stroll. I wish I'd got our host's name, but sadly, I didn't. £14 one way. As a treat, well worth it. Value for money and a great trip for locals and visitors alike. Just a couple of landmarks along the way. P.S. return journeys are readily available. We chose to take the ferry/boat to Richmond, enjoy the Riverside, then catch the bus home. 20 minutes was far more attractive towards the end of the day.

Lovely trip from Hampton Court to Richmond on this vessel that saw action at Dunkirk. Lovely bar, friendly crew. The commentary along the way was really informative and entertaining. I learnt a lot of really interesting local history. I was sorry to get off! Thank you.

We got there early but there was no shade to wait as the area by the landing was scattered with teens sunbathing and gathering drinking pop and showing off for eachother. Much like David Attenboroughs sea life documentary, the young seals finding mates. The Princess Frida craft was small enough to feel intimate and the views from Royal Hampton Court to Ricond were spectacular. I may just do this again as a return trip for fun BUT next time I'll take a cardigan.

Went on the trip today and the journey from Westminster to Hampton court is a real treat and you see different parts of London that other trips dont do. Takes 3 hours. The downside is that times may change because of the tides. Fair enough. But if planning a trip a few days ahead it is necessary to know expected leaving times. If you phone them and leave a message to phone back they dont. On the trip today at the bar and being the first customer requesting alcohol they had run out of wine after our two glasses Yes gods!!!!

I really enjoyed their boat tour. They gave out lots of historical information about Thames River and the places surrounding it. My kids had fun too. They covered several landmarks such as Windsor Castle.
