Been using this pool since I was a kid, am now 38. Both of my children have learned to swim here. I live closer to Wigan baths but would always choose this pool over them any day. Staff have always been brilliant, especially with my sons SEN needs. Heather was amazing with him. To have access to both the small warm pool and the large pool is not found in many places anymore, so this is nice. Yes it is in need of refurbishment, but at the end of the day it's a local community pool, not a 5* Ritz Hotel Spa. Many people rely on this place and its affordable prices.

I used the GP referral, Walk This Weigh scheme and it really is amazing. Kelly David taught nutrition, reading and understanding food labels, how to make healthier choices etc. She is so enthusiastic and motivating. I lost weight and feel better for it. I also did the gym part with Kelly where she worked with me to provide a routine specifically for my needs. I completed the course (which is free) and then I joined the gym afterward. I find the staff friendly and helpful. The gym is clean and has enough equipment for my needs. I haven't used the pool yet so I can't comment yet.

Both the pool and gym do the job, but no frills, and they've been neglected for years. Need some investment. Decent size pool with diving end. Burscough diving club have the deep end on a Saturday to 1.30pm, so can't do lengths, only widths, (but added entertainment!) Well-used by kids on a Saturday. Midweek - schools use it, but 12.15pm there is a gap for length swimming. You'll need a combination lock for the pool lockers, can buy from reception for £5 (50p for the gym lockers). But the pool really needs a re-furb. Generally a bit grubby, needs a deep clean round the inside edges of the pool, especially at the deep end. One of the ladies toilet doors needs it lock fixing. People trampt through with dirty shoes, so the floor needs a quick mop every 1 or 2 hours. Just looks tired. But its functional, cheap and local. The gym also needs some investment too, some of the exercise machines are old, but most work. I don't mind it, cheap, functional, basic, quiet, don't have to wait for machines and everyone is friendly, does the job.

Been using Nye Bevan gym for almost 2 years - and the pool on a few occasions. Yes, the building is showing it's age and could do with a complete refurb or replacement but other than that is still perfectly adequate and offers great facilities and good value for money. £19 a month for unlimited gym use, in a small, but well equipped and friendly facility that suits people of all ages - especially older people - not everyone wants the likes of Gym Works or Bannatyne - nor can they afford them! The gym is used extensively by people of all ages and the range of equipment is excellent. Staff are very friendly and accommodating of customers. Nye Bevan is a much needed facility in Skelmersdale - Use it - or Lose it

This place is run for west lancs council by a third party. Positives Absolutely nothing comes to mind. Negatives Grotty Ill maintained Dirty Half the pool is often unavailable due to swimming lessons There have been tiles off the walls in the changing rooms for 12 months plus. Mould growing on the urinals. Some sort of brown smear on the cubicle walls for weeks suggesting it was rarely cleaned. Pool is always freezing Shower area stinks. No water pressure in showers Showers lukewarm on a good day Roof tiles missing above the pool and others look like they are clinging on for dear life. Clearly no money or interest being put into providing proper community facilities. We've been promised a new pool for years and it is badly needed given the state of this abomination. Give this place a miss at all costs.

Always enjoy bringing family here. Staff friendly and helpful and pool warm and clean. Changing rooms ok but need updating, especially lockers, many of which don't work. Showers not great but overall a good swimming experience. Both the Pool and Gym very busy and popular so people must have a good experience or wouldn't keep coming back.

My god it hasn't had any money spent on it in years , used to come here with my dad over 30 years ago and unfortunately its fallen into a state of disrepair. 90%of the lockers don't work , doors missing of stalls, missing ceiling tiles dirty ect , disappointing because the staff are really nice and helpful just needs a bit of money spending on it to refurbish , I thought our council tax paid for projects like this.
