   I wish they would stop trying to force people into self service! More often than not it's one poor soul trying to deal with the many people who prefer being served by staff. Matalan is probably one of the worst shops for this. I've left the shop on more than one occasion because of the queue and gone elsewhere.

   Shopping with my husband and returning some items today in the Linwood store, I was served by a gentleman around late thirties about 12pm . Fantastic customer service, very chatty, eye contact and made you feel that he really did want you to be happy with the service. Nothing was any bother for him and the transaction was completed quickly and efficiently. It is just a pity that I couldnt speak to the manager to let them know, that they had an amazing member of their team. I did call their headoffice and I hope they pass on to the store to give this member of staff the praise they deserve.

   Decided to do my Christmas shopping here Dec 2023. At this time of year I find that there is an equal amount of clothes for men and women. Decent quality and plenty of stock available. The midweek shop in the morning, I found is best as it is less crowded. There is a good and varied styles of clothes to suit both men and women and covers across the generational gap, as I managed to find gifts for all my family and extended too. There are staff actively on the shop floor and staff announcements on the tannoy indicating where staff are required. Staff on the checkouts were ample and the lady I spoke with was lovely, chatty and very pleasant. There was some background music playing but this was at a sufficient level to not be annoying. There is plenty parking within the retail park.

   Big store with a lot of stuff for everyone, from toddlers to adults - clothes, shoes, accessories, and stuff for home. Nice staff and good service.

   Disappointed that they refused to take my DPD package even though they are part of the scheme. They claimed it was too large, even though I managed to easily carry it into the store.

   I queue, yet staff stand behind the counter doing next to nothing. This is not the first time I've seen this. Next time I will name you. Only 1 or 2 people queuing, they can still queue for a while if only one is serving and there is a refund on a faulty till. My time is precious.

   Good selection of clothing for everyone at reasonable prices. A bright open and airy shop, but within certain areas bulging over filled racks and floor stands make wheelchair use unnecessarily difficult. But of course the large selections need space, but so do wheelchair users. There is a large very roomy fitting area and a large space for those who need it so full marks for that bit!
