Great place days out and for those day walks. Found this Water park in Orrell when browsing things to do in Orrell via trip advisor and recomended place of nature and walks and days out. Around 1hr and 30mins from Wigan town centre and would recomend to cheak it out and get yourself down there to Orrell water park.

Lovely peaceful walk around the lake, flat and accessible, lots of benches for resting/taking in the view, lots of people fishing. Has a cafe selling food, beers, gorgeous icecreams too!

Orrell Water Park is a lovely little spot that’s perfect for a peaceful walk or a bit of outdoor time with family. The park itself is well-kept, with two fishing lakes, ducks to watch, and a nice flat path that makes for an easy stroll. It’s quiet, clean, and feels like a bit of countryside tucked into the town. We usually do a longer route from the water park up to Billinge Hill, and it’s a brilliant walk. The trail takes you through a mix of woodland, fields, and country lanes, with plenty of scenic views along the way. Once you reach the top of Billinge Hill, the view is amazing — you can see right across to Winter Hill, and even the Welsh hills on a clear day. It’s a great route for getting out in nature without needing to travel far. Definitely recommend it for walkers of all levels — just wear decent footwear if it's been raining, as it can get muddy in parts.

Lovely place to walk. 2 lakes with a pram friendly path most of the way around (few tree roots to navigate). Plenty of benches to sit & admire the view onto the water. Lots of bins. Cafe on site but not open when I went in October. Free parking but gate closes in the evening. Children's playgrounds clean & tidy. Lots of birds to see. Can get a bit muddy in Autumn/Winter. Fishing lake too.

Lovely place to come for a walk or to chill out for a bit. It was popular when I visited, but wasn't too busy such that you could still walk around and find empty benches (though it was a bitter January day, so I can imagine during summer this location may be very busy). Plenty of ducks and geese to feed (please research food that is good for them - no bread!). It is very easy to get here from the railway station, though there is also a small car park available.

We love Orrell Water Park! Firstly the car park is large and there's always room to park. You can just park up and look out over the lake if you don't want to walk. You can walk around the lake, which is a lovely walk in itself, or you can take one of the footpaths that leads up into the fields for longer walks. There are swings for the children and a cafe/takeaway depending on the time of year, where we had very nice coffees and hot chocolates today. There are plenty of benches for anyone who needs/wants to sit. My friends and I consider ourselves very lucky to have Orrell Water Park near to where we live!

Loved this place, we've never been before and it's right on our doorstep. We bought ice creams from the cafe as my grandson wanted one, they were so good. We picked some BlackBerries and cooking apples from the hidden orchard and I made a pie the day after. There a park there also which my grandson enjoyed. The lake is lovely, you can buy a bag of seed from the cafe for £1 to feed the ducks on the lake.

Great for bird lovers, or just a stroll around the lakes. Plus a play area for the kids and a cafe (takeaway only at the moment), a lovely relaxing couple of hours with the family.
