   The Steble fountain is a grade ll listed Victorian fountain presented to the city of Liverpool by a former mayor in 1879. The fountain is cast iron with some bronze fittings. The figures on the four corners are marine gods, Neptune, acis, galatea and amphitrite. The sixteen overflows are decorated with scallops and lancastrian roses. It is an impressive addition to the area.

   The Steble Fountain is not only a beautiful piece of Victorian sculpture, but also a wonderful place to contemplate Liverpool’s rich history. Gifted to the city in 1877 by a former mayor, and designed by French sculptor Paul Liénard, the fountain is full of mythological detail and old-world charm. Surrounded by iconic landmarks like St George’s Hall, the Walker Art Gallery, and Wellington’s Column, the area feels like an open-air museum. It's a perfect spot to sit, reflect, and take in the beauty and heritage of the city.

   Located next to the Wellington Column, this beautiful fountain which is listed as a national heritage building has fallen to despair in need of repair. Sad.

   Ornate fountain centrepiece and I imagine it looks great if it was running. However, when visiting the fountain was empty and the area surrounding it filthy and covered in broken glass and rubbish. Such a shame.

   A pleasant reflective time in such a remarkable wealth of creativity - but Larus Argentatus does seem to decorate those icons of the past in a glow of white wash if you follow my scent !!

   Sadly this beautiful, historical and cultural area of the city is home to lots of broken glass, rubbish, weeds and uneven paving slabs. Such a shame to see and a reflection of the respect given to the city's heritage in my view. Sincerely hope it improves.
