Genuinely the BEST Chinese food I have ever had. Golden Gate is the best Chinese takeaway in the UK I have moved away from Bristol for university but every time I visit home I have to get a Chinese from Golden Gate because it is the best around.

The best Chinese we’ve had in Bristol for ages. Even though they forgot one of our portions of rice, still giving five stars… but seriously, please don’t forget an entire portion of rice again… It’s really quite irritating. Portions are really decent sizes. Unlike our local Chinese where they are shrinking faster than a celebrity’s jawline on Ozempic
I went there this evening for a basic meal. I asked for a chicken dish with half rice and half chips. Pretty basic for a Chinese takeaway right? I was told no, we don't do that in a very direct way - they used to. I ended up, with no explanation as to why with a decent chicken dish with cold chips and no rice at all. For a whopping £9.50. The next time I'm that hungry I'll go to the Tesco express just up the road for a £3.50 microwave meal, which will be just as nice if not better. Avoid, sad to say. They were never particularly friendly to be honest, but at least the food used to be good value when you're hungry.

Exceptional food, great portion sizes, really enjoyed our meals
Positives: generous portions, quick delivery, fried rice, fried noodles, crispy beef, banana fritter were good. Crispy chicken and crispy squid, crispy tofu - a bit too much cornflour used, making the chicken and tofu a bit too hard and the squid a bit soggy. Duck with pineapple wasn't the best, clear sauce.
