There is no table in the room. I’m ok with small rooms, but it should be functionable and sensibly designed. It’s cold and draughty in winter, heating is poor. They only give you a tiny bottle of water and if you want more, you need to pay $1.50 for a tiny bottle. There was a male staff who kept coughing loudly and did not wear a mask, which was extremely unsanitary. For the price, it’s completely not worth it.

We had a flying two night visit to experience the Christmas markets, Edinburgh culture and some beautiful sight seeing. To be honest we were hardly in our room but we have to say this hotel was a pleasure to have stayed at! Great room size, quiet, friendly/available/informative staff, excellent location for walking/buses/sights/restaurants, licensed bar and a yummy/generous breakfast to set you up for the day! Would recommend if your visit is similar to ours, we would definitely stay again if we return to Edinburgh!

When booking this hotel I thought I had found a fantastic deal. I then find out - after some of the most rude and unprofessional messages I have ever received from a company - that there was a “system error” which led to the price being displayed incorrectly. Despite me booking and paying therefore entering into a contract which I have fulfilled my part of - the company chose not to honour my booking and instead cancel the booking. Something that was no fault of my own. While I did not have the opportunity to experience the rooms or location I can say with complete honesty that the service is atrocious.

Cairn was the perfect hotel for our stay! The room was a bit small but had a spacious bathroom and big bed, plus, how long do you really spend in the room anyway? All services worked and the location was a short walk to city center! Helen was a gracious staff member and really helped us out when we needed it. Thanks again!

Stay August 18-21, 2025 Room 203 - Ground floor First of all – would we book there again? Not really. Reception: Nice and very friendly. Room: Our room faced the street and was still very quiet at night. The double bed was very narrow by German standards. I often felt like I was going to fall out. There was a third bed in the room - we had booked a double room. The room was too small for three beds - everything was very cramped. The fan in the bathroom sounded like a hammer drill when it started up. The TV lost often signal. Breakfast: Little selection. No bread, only toast. Only English ham. Simply not enough for international guests. The hotel's location is good. But there's still a lot of room for improvement.

Excellent stay in this hotel on a very busy 6 nations weekend. Contacted the hotel as we were arriving on an early flight and they were able to accommodate us with an early check with absolutely no fuss. Duty manager on reception was very welcoming. Room spacious and very clean. We even made a mistake and ordered a double room instead of a twin, and again they were very accommodating in changing the beds too

We loved staying at the Cairn. The room was cozy, the beds were warm, the shower was hot, and the staff were so lovely. The breakfast is wonderful, lots to choose from. I would definitely stay here again!

Location was nice & hotel staff were friendly & helpful. We stayed in a double room & you couldn’t even walk around the bed to get to the other side. The room was incredibly small. There was a wardrobe to hang about 6 things in, no drawers. We couldn’t unpack our suitcases which isn’t a huge deal, but there is practically no space to leave them open on the floor either. This room would not be suitable for someone with mobility issues. The bathroom is like one on a cruise ship cabin. Your knees touch the wall while you sit on the toilet. The shower is tiny & water leaks onto the floor. Water pressure is a trickle, but nice and hot. Not sure we’d stay here again but it’s fine if you just need a place to sleep. Not exactly a comfortable place to hang out, but if you’re out exploring all day like we were, it’s fine.

A nice little hotel for a fair price. I booked a single room which had everything I needed. The bed was super comfy and I had plenty of space. The bathroom was spacious as well. They also had tea, coffee and some snacks in the room, which was a surprise for me. Overall nice experience

Bathroom shower was not clean . Had lots off hair's in it .I'm not a fussy customer but that was not nice . Breakfast was worth going elsewhere. But I can say the reception staff were absolutely fantastic and so helpful.
