One of the prettiest cathedrals I’ve ever seen. All the details are breathtaking! We went in a rainy day and it looked even better, matched the vibe.
A very beautiful and magnificent cathedral. There are many interesting exhibits inside, and there's also gothic organ music playing in the background. It's worth a visit, and the photos are incredible.
Walking into St Mary’s Cathedral, I was immediately struck by the play of light and color pouring through the magnificent stained-glass windows. The large rose window above, with its intricate design, radiates a sense of eternity, like a burst of divine light frozen in glass. Each panel tells its own biblical story, creating a tapestry of faith that glows warmly even in the quiet dimness of the nave. Before the altar stands a breathtaking shrine. At its center is a detailed carving of the Crucifixion of Christ, framed by Gothic arches and flanked by solemn angels. The figures below—Mary, the disciples, and other biblical characters—are frozen in grief and reverence, reminding visitors of both suffering and salvation. The blue-toned stained glass behind the shrine intensifies the scene, bathing the white marble in a celestial glow. In this sacred space, I felt the silence of centuries press gently around me, not heavy, but comforting—like a reminder that faith, art, and human longing have always been intertwined.
This is a beautiful cathedral! The light coming through the windows. The building just feels massive and at the same time inviting! Also there is a lady constantly playing music to make even more of an atmosphere!

It’s definitely a beautiful cathedral. I would say if your not near it I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit. Well as a tourist at least.
One of the most stunning cathedrals we’ve ever been to. This place has so much history and is incredibly peaceful. Unlike other cathedrals, this one is just as beautiful and ornate on the outside as it is on the inside. The staff clearly love this cathedral and are happy to share its history with visitors. Services on Sundays are wonderful and worth experiencing if you’re in the area.
I went to the St. Mary Cathedral, a historical and spatial one at Edinburgh City, for its Fringe musical event. It provided many seats for the audience and believers, and yet I feel particularly cold inside likely due to the relatively less people coming. It was also exhibiting the artwork and offering an interactive tree for the leaves of the wishes written by people. The time I spent on visiting was about 30-45 minutes.
One more fantastic place on the amazing city of Edinburgh. Probably the most beautiful cathedral in city. Not exactly on the city centre, but you will love it when you get there
