   Came out to my broken down van and said it had just ran out of fuel. Thr filled with fuel then set off, and charged me £100 odds because it ran out of fuel instead of an actual issue. Turns out it WAS an engine issue, and my engine blew up on the way home costing me 6k for an engine re-build. To top it off they are refusing to waive the misdiagnosed fuel charge and are sending lawyers letters. Literally they are the worst company I have ever dealt with. Never use the RAC

   This is my first ever google review, left so that others avoid a terrible experience with RAC caused by the automated booking/tracking system, NOT the rescuer who was great. Similar to other reviewers I was stranded at the side of the road in -2 degree celsius conditions from 8:30 whilst my rescue time estimate changed from 10-12 to 11-1 to 12:20-2:20 on their automated site. After the final shift at 10:30 I'd been waiting for 2 hours and phoned an advisor who told me a patrol was expected 1:10. If I'd been given this information rather than the vague and drifiting timeframes I could have had a relative pick me up sooner so I was warm and safe until the patrol arrived. A relative did pick me up after 2 hours, and the rescuer actually arrived early at 12. My relative drove me back to my car and the rescuer was brilliant. So the eventual service was good, but the handling of getting me that service was completely unacceptable, leaving me literally freezing, and vulnerable for 2 hours which would have been longer had I not phoned an advisor. Avoid at all costs. If you must use RAC, make sure to phone an advisor and avoid the automated booking system.

   absolute disgrace . cancelled within 24 hours , there was no mention of cancellation fee or admin fee to cancel . when told we wd be charged for cancelling even tho less than 24 hours i asked where did it tell me about cancellation fee . was told its in the paperwork that comes by post that has not been sent out yet !! so meant ti gave a crystal ball ?! told if didn’t pay wd affect my c/rating :spoke to manager who sd there wd be an investigation . told him wd make sure potential wd know about this scam customers 30 mins into call manager hung up cos he knew was 100% in wrong . reason all financial institutes ave to refund because did not inform of charges in advance . rac absolute disgrace customer service / care poorest ever experienced zero stars for this lot

   Our car is broken down. Called the RAC. It would appear that they don’t have mobile units to come to me for 5 hours at the earliest. We’re in Gravesend not the Outer Hebrides. Go elsewhere for breakdown cover. This company is a disgrace.

   Highway bloody robbery!!! Got RAC a year ago,free with purchase of year membership with Camping and Caravan club. Renewal date arrives and I don't want it anymore. I look in my bank account and £182.99 has been taken from my account!! I rang RAC took 10mins to answer. Explained the above to a chap who was very rude. Telling me that their service is well worth it and the new breakdown service I got for £69 wasn't as good as theirs. Tried everything to change my mind,got irate with me ,THEN he tells me they are charging me £25 to cancel a policy I never agreed to. Plus I have to wait 14 days to get my money back that they shouldn't have taken in the first place. Then he said if I sign up to some package now I would get a discount of £30 on next year's policy.NO WAY!! U already got £ 25 of mine. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

   Poor service. My boyfriend was stranded next to the road, waiting from 5pm to 11pm. Only to find out they would be there to assist him after 1 in the morning. Unacceptable service. Places people in a vulnerable position, dark,cold and alone. Not acceptable

   Absolutely disappointed in the service my husband has been trying to get his car recovered since Monday night at 10pm this is now Thursday 2.45pm and he keeps getting fobbed off being told he needs to wait for someone to contact him. Definitely won't be renewing with them.
