Our son started attending the toddler group 3 years ago and is now in kindergarten. He absolutely thrives in this nurturing, warm environment. As a parent I feel very close with and supported by the teachers. We have experience with other private nurseries and the support we are getting at the Edinburgh Steiner School is incomparably outstanding. We are now visiting the baby group with our newborn daughter and love the atmosphere and connection to other parents. I can’t recommend the school enough.

My son is currently in Kindergarten and thriving at the Edinburgh Steiner School. He joined Seedlings last year, where he developed close, supportive bonds with teachers and peers. Communication from teachers and the wider school community is regular and detailed. I would have no reservation in recommending the school to others.

If I could I would give this school a negative star. If you are neuro divergent and/or need emotional support, do NOT go here. I was victimised, ignored, severely bullied. And had no appropriate response or action from the school. Even after tens of emails and meetings. If you want to endure emotional distress I would fully recommend this school to you.

I sent my son to this "school", and it was the biggest waste of money ever. Most of the teachers wouldn`t get jobs at other schools since they don`t have the requisite qualifications, and have unethical teaching practices. When my son was timetabled ie for an English lesson, he would either be doing gardening or eurythmy; is it any wonder he was worse at English when he left the school than when he joined it? When he left to go to St Mary`s music school, it took him ages to catch up in basic spelling and grammer, all thanks to the Steiner School, which understandably has diminished in size recently. A private school for kids who are unruly, and for teachers who similarly couldn`t cope elsewhere.....only send your kids here if you want them to leave school comletely illiterate and uneducated....and that`s being kind!

My children go here and are really happy in both Kindergarten and Lower School. Both have fantastic teachers and have benefitted socially and with their confidence from delaying formal learning. In Lower School the class is really a happy and calm space and they have time to develop real curiousity and really take in what they are learning. There is no pressure and the teacher has close awareness of each child's needs.

Both of my children have benefited from the Enburgh Steiner School, and have attended Toddler Group, Kindergarten, Lower School, and the eldest now in Upper School. So far we have seen As in every exam taken, and they have matured into very creative, knowledeable, sociable, and confident beings. A gorgeous building within beautiful grounds in a wonderful area with lovely teachers. I am so pleased that we moved to Edinburgh from England for this amazing school!

The care for the children and attention to detail that the staff give is outstanding. I wish there were more schools like this one. The children are happy probably because they are allowed to be the individuals that they are. I love the fact school starting age is 6 or 7 in steiner schools. Research shows that this is better for the children's self esteem and also for academic achievement as children learn most from playing before the age of 7. I have met many wonderful people through the school. It is a lovely community of families.
