Just wanted to say thanks to doctor Joseph McQuade. Had dealings with Joseph for the second time now. Individual approach, understanding and knowledgeable. Thanks for your help.

I have a fear of doctors and hospitals. Saw Dr Maybin yesterday and the Nurse today, they were amazing and put me at ease. Thank you!

Some receptionists are really dedicated for their work. I appreciate their hard work. But some are very poor in providing services and reluctant to do any work. These people need to understand they are getting paid to do the job. Unwell and desperate people are calling everyday to get some help, not to observe their attitude.

Possibly the worst telephone service provided by a GP. Every time I call at 8am on the dot, I’m placed into the queue, only for the phone line to cut out as I reach the front of queue. I’m then back to being 30th and waiting for 40+ minutes. Truly frustrating for everyone involved and negatively impacting the health and well-being of the surgery users. They advertise an online booking system, which has never worked. A real shame. I want to have a good experience and I’m not.

Absolutely useless! I told them not to remove me from their records as I am not registered with any other Dr anywhere, and the Australian or Kiwi receptionist went ahead and removed me anyway…? I was also sent a letter to get a smear test done, which when I phoned up to book it, the narky receptionist at the time told me they didn’t do smear tests and to go elsewhere (couldn’t even tell me where), even though a friend of mine received the same letter from Abbey Medical and was booked straight in for a smear test with one of the nurses at THE ABBEY MEDICAL CENTRE. I don’t know what those two receptionists were playing at and whether they were just having bad days however, they should reconsider their profession because neither are fit or capable when it comes to dealing with people’s health! I have however spoken to a receptionist since who, to be fair, seems to be a lot better at her job and generally better as a human being! I now have to download a form to reregister to be seen which isn’t ideal when you have an emergency on your hands…

I haven't been with the surgery long, but unfortunately I haven't enjoyed my experience. I find it very hard to get an appt, like others I work and I can't come away from my work for hrs at a time waiting in a que just to be told, "sorry none left, call back tomorrow" . There should be a booking system in advance for people who work. Also u can't always get an appt, seems to depend on what receptionist u speak to. I will be looking for a new GP.

My dad has been unwell for 2 months now. He has a persistent cough and sore throat, he got given 2 different sets of antibiotics which did not help. He kept coming back to the practice and was asked to do a phlegm swab. After a couple of days he got a call from the receptionist and told my dad he has an infection, they did not tell my dad which infection it was, no info whatsoever ever. Today I went to the doctor for myself and while I was there I asked if the doctor if he can let me know what infection my dad has and he told me my dad has a chest infection. If I didn’t ask we still wouldn’t know what was happening with my dad now he has an ongoing chest infection. Dr Calvo has been great in helping my family. 5/5 stars for him. Wish the receptionists were a bit more knowledgeable.

Due to a few medical issues this year I’ve had to contact the surgery several times. Although like most practices throughout the country, difficulties have been apparent following the covid 19 epidemic, however,I can not fault the service provided in both doctors appointments and nurse visits. I have received excellent care and attention. I can honestly say that I’ve had the best & most attentive service.

Absolutely impossible to get an appointment!! I’ve tried to make an appointment for 2 weeks straight and every time I’m told the same thing unless you’re able to call at 8am and wait for a call back from the GP at ‘some time throughout the day’ you’re buggered. I start work at 7:30, I live alone, don’t have family in the area, or friends that I wish to burden with trying to make ME an appointment at this surgery and honestly, I shouldn’t have to either. The online system is a train wreck as well. You need to call the surgery the request the online registration forms are POSTED to you and then return them in person with ID. All of that JUST for the convenience of being notified that they have suspended their online booking system indefinitely. After explaining the difficulties I would have in calling the surgery at 8am, along with everyone else attempting to get a call back to discuss whether they even need an appointment, the receptionist simply repeated the line that they cannot book appointments in advance and I should at least try to call back at 8am. It’s not a surprise that I’ll be moving to a different GP surgery immediately.

I am not sure the issue is itself with the practitioners rather than with the receptionist who always try to find a reason for you not to get a visit. They will tell you to go to the chemist or something. I understand the necessity to limit to strongly necessary visits but if you offer Public Health Service than the issue might be with the GP practice not having enough staff rather than the problems the customers are presenting. And since we pay taxes for it I’d rather get seen when I ask to be checked because something is wrong, no matter how little important the receptionist (who is not a doctor, from what I know) might think it is.
