Christmas party night with Dj and Sax player. One of my work colleagues had organised our team night Christmas night and I hadn’t actually heard of here before. The room was set up lovely and it was nice the table were mixed in with our companies and parties. I loved that our food order pre order was placed on the table to remind people what they had order, very impressed by this little touch (having worked in hospitality for many years and worked many party nights, it was always a pain people forgetting their preorder) I had the smocked salmon, it was served as a mousse and was light, not to heavily smoked and the citus drizzle really lifted it, followed by the turkey with all the trimmings, turkey was tasty, not dry, veg was good to perfection (usually find most places you end up with soggy overcooked veg) all round very tasty. Dessert we had the cheesecake, we were all mmmm’ing eating this, it was gorgeous, the white chocolate ganache with the raspberry sauce was soo tasty, highlight of dinner. Food service and clearing flowed seamlessly. Once all cleared the live singer started followed by the Dj, who played lots of great music to keep you dancing off your dinner and then we had a sax player, this was fantastic, the sax player was so engaging and entertaining we did not leave the dancefloor. All round a great night and would happily have another night out here.

Didn't stay over but attended for a family event. Staff were all brilliant but special heads up to the chefs - Avril and Sean. Their food was amazing and they were so friendly too! Gillian from Newcastle

Fabulous family run hotel in the heart of the community. We have dined in both the bar area and the newly refurbished restaurant many times. Food is first class. Never once been disappointed. Staff are very attentive and helpful. Can't do enough for you. We have stayed over too, and the rooms were very well furnished and comfortable. It is also worth checking out the "What's On" board as there are so many great gigs and events hosted at the hotel. Lastly, the large function suite has also been newly refurbished and is perfect for occasions of any kind. Happy to recommend this we'll run family hotel.

The service is excellent, the venue is modern and comfortable, but we were stuck in the tiny bar area eating our dinner (party of 11) because they had an event ongoing in the actual dining area! Why they still took a large dinner booking knowing they are also hosting a large event is beyond me, and we werent the only large dining party shoehorned into the bar area. It made the busy bar extremely loud and made for an uncomfortable dining atmosphere. They are also dog friendly, which in a bar isnt normally an issue, but allowing animals to trudge in and out while folk are eating dinner is just unhygienic. The menu itself isnt very tempting, more of an odd assortment of options lumped together, and this shows in the poorly seasoned, tasteless and overcooked food. Decent venue for a drink in a small group, but I would advise against ordering any food that isnt on the dessert menu!

Would definitely NOT recommend as meal was poor and staff/management are NOT interested. We booked a table on Sunday 23 October 2022 for my 35th wedding anniversary as we had not been there for a long time and knew it had been really good in the past. I had the Sunday roast but some of it was hot and some was slightly warm and there was what looked like congealed gravy on my plate which was very off putting. My husband had fish and chips but it was just average and the batter wasn't crisp. Neither of us finished our meals. I reported this to the waitress and she asked me for contact details, which I left, as there was nobody there that could deal with the complaint. She said that somebody would contact me but it is now 9 November 2022 and I have not heard from anyone. I got the impression that I was being fobbed off and since nobody has contacted me, I know now that I was right to feel that way. All in all, not a pleasant dining experience. I did not understand why there was nobody there to deal with my complaint and my daughter has worked in hospitality for over 10 years and she also did not understand why there was no supervisor or manager there to deal with my complaint at that time.
