If you are interested in enrolling here to study Film and Television; I would advise that you look somewhere else. Speaking as a graduate myself from this institute, with a Bachelor of Arts, I can honestly say I had a horrific time with this Institutes Media Department. My lecturers were very unnapproachable, elitist, neglectful, transparent with much of their student base, and in the case of one of them (a woman by the name of Kirsten MacLeod), even bullyish. I should also mention that in the time since I left the institution, I was even diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder based on Mrs MacLeodβs treatment as a lecturer As a Media Deprtment, Edinburgh Napierβs biggest issue is very much its Teaching Base. They appear to care more about their overall image and reputation rather than their actual quality of teaching and they just appeared to look at their students as just βSmall Fishβ rather than aspiring young people who want to learn and have a great experience. I will however acknowledge the support and aid of Edinburgh Napierβs Complaint Procedure Department who have apologised for Kirsten McLeodβs poor treatment and their offer of mental health support for the PTSD is greatly appreciated though. Itβs just unfortunate not to have received an apology from Kirsten MacLeod herself. If anybody has had the misfortune of enrolling with this institute and if you happen to be a media student and happen to experience any difficulty with KIRSTEN MACLEOD as a lecturer (or any other member of the department) I advise that you complain to the complaints procedure IMMEDIATELY as complaints will only be handled after a certain amount of time has passed.

I studied engineering here in the early 90βs, great university with modern equipment and good links to industry. Highly recommend it to prospective students who want to study in the famous old city.

Studied here for a semester on exchange from the US. I was a graphic design major, so I took mostly design courses, excluding one called, Scenography or scenic design, as its referred to in the states. Lecturers (Professors) overload you with work and have unrealistic expectations of students. It's also nearly impossible to get an A in any one course. I was lucky to have gotten straight C's/passing mark in all my classes. To top it off the study abroad office here is extremely disorganized and honestly doesn't really care about international students. Oh and good luck trying to find housing in Edinburgh, which is next to impossible. I've never been more stressed in my life studying at a university and wish I would have stayed in the states.

Best modern university in Scotland. Good and friendly professor's as well as staff. Enjoying my study time there. You get chance to participate in a lot of activities. You will always find someone to support you in all the aspects of your student journey. You will get a good combination of lectures and practicals involved in your studies. Best of luck for your future. A lot of options for masters students available to do PhD.

Come see Merchiston Tower, the castle like 16th century home of John Napier, the inventor of logarithms who lends his name to the uni. There's public access to the Tower which is preserved within the uni grounds, albeit to the exterior (interior is students and uni staff members only).
