I attended the school for one term and then made the decision to leave after realising the environment would not be one that I would be able to flourish in. I was deeply disappointed and shocked by the insidious, covert, toxic environment that is the underpinning of the school. Biased lectures and theories ( be prepared to be gaslit by peers and tutors alike ) Invalidating responses and attitudes towards very serious concerns raised ( by many students ) Not recommended for healthy individuals who have self" and emotional awareness and do not thrive in toxic environments. * no support for a fellow student who has dyslexia* *witnessed Neuro diverse students, have their experiences invalidated often* *topics of race and social injustice-,handled POORLY! to say the least. *lectures are biased with no options for debates ( delivered by in house teachers only* *lectures explored very outdated theories and ideas, not discussing much of the new theories*

An amazing venue in the heart of the city. From the moment you walk in, you feel a sense of magic and acceptance. The staff are delightful, the content of every course really carefully thought thorough, inspiring, uplifting and motivating. I have, on every occasion that I have studied with IATE left feeling delighted and excited about the possibilities of lives changed for the better. Amazing speakers, staff and work, empowering change for children and young people across the UK.

I studied here a number of years ago and have returned several times since. All my tutors had a deep well of knowledge and experience and the standard of teaching was consistently excellent, as was the support when needed. My learning helped me transform my working practices and support the children and young people I worked with more effectively. And the beautiful environment was an added bonus! All in all, the experience made each day's 4am journey start and midnight home thoroughly worthwhile.

I first visited IATE over 10 years ago ans was blown away by the high quality learning environment and the knowledge and professionalism of the tutors and guest speakers. I have been exceptionally privileged to continue to access professional development opportunities over the years that have been cutting edge and informed by the latest research and evidence. The training is second to none. Each of the training spaces is themed and provides a comfortable learning environment. And the toilets are worth a visit alone!!!

The only reason it's not 5* is because of me and my husband being on a very low income and this is my passion but there is no government support available. It's such a shame because I think there should be a load of us out there armed with this knowledge. No matter what profession or even as a parent. Travel costs too. The building is special and Islington is like this really unique atmosphere. Paul my tutor was hard to take at the start because he really calls people out and is so theatrical. I regret judging so harshly now because he turned out to be the best (Though the other ladies and Karla were fantastic too) He is so passionate about the psychology and how the art helps the children reconnect as best they can. He has more energy than a lake of carp. What a person. What a person to be so invigorated by helping others. Well done. Thanks for the experience, it turned my whole life around 180° and set me very slowly (because I have a lot of limitations) to helping others in places I could've done with help myself.
