I booked a holiday with Barrhead travel to South Africa and their customer service is non existent. I had reason to complain when I got home I had to email my complaint and they replied by email ….. I never even got the curtesy of a call. I will never book any holiday with them again.
I used to use Barrhead Travel as it was local and a family owned business, but have stopped going after a couple of poorly handled visits. The service has declined and there's an air of an inflexible customer experience.
Ordered currency Saturday 21st December and received email 6pm to say it was ready and pick up within 2 business days to keep the rate. To anyone a business day is Monday to Friday Even when you google this. Went on the Tuesday 24th December and shop was shut which is the second business day. Girl who served me advised they are a 7 day business, really think the website should explain this Had to then go with a lower exchange rate and pay more even tho the money was at the shop.
Fabulous Service!!!! The hotel notified Amanda that they were doing construction work and she was quick to help us change our holiday. We moved to Turkey and had an amazing time. Nothing was a bother and or holiday went smoothly.
Over the years I have booked a number of holidays through Barrhead Travel in East Kilbride. If visiting this store I would recommend using Holly, her level of customer service is second to none, i have recommended her to lots of family/friends who now go nowhere else. Nothing was too much bother for her and she always helps getting the best deals possible. I would highly recommend visiting and booking your holiday with Barrhead East Kilbride.

Went on today Jan 18th to book a holiday for 4 people. Woman was rude, unhelpful and customer service was shocking. She basically told us to go away and book ourselves online. She was extremely abrupt then told us her customer had came in told us to go to another desk. We left with no helpful information and no holiday booked. I wont set foot on the place again. Terrible service
At last on our way to Jamaica booked with Barrhead travel East Kilbride and that's where we went wrong. Firstly they were all over you to book once booked that's where it ends. They sold us a cruise and when we got our ticket information the wrong destinations then we were told to book our seats on the wrong date so when we went to book them the ones we wanted were all gone. Having made a complaint to the manager this was swept aside her staff could never make these mistakes until we produced written evidence in the member of staff a own handwriting still brushed away. Finally we wrote to customer service and yep again nothing. Absolute shambles would never use this branch or company again. Good luck to anyone who does.
If you go here ask for Hugh he is brilliant his customer service is outstanding and he knows what he is doing nothing is to much trouble. He was the only reason I booked found him to be honest , knowledgeable and patient. would have no hesitation in booking with him again.
I've booked many holidays over the years (and sometimes more than one in the year). However, over the last couple of years I've lost count of the errors they've made. I've had ATOL forms with duplicate names and wrong dates of birth against people, lack of information on the holiday that resulted in problems whilst there to name a few. WHen I've complained I've received excuse after excuse, usually trying to make out problem not due to them! The worst complaint I have is poor customer service when trying to book a holiday. I've lost track of how often I'm told they'll phone back with holiday options, and then not receive a call (even by the next day). I phone again and request the person dealing get back in touch...and they don't. Then I end up phoning again the following day to chase things up. I can accept they may be busy with other customers, but this is unacceptable. Don't they want my custom? If that's the case, I think in future I'll take my custom elsewhere (where it's wanted), whether that means another branch, or a totally different company.
